I Cancel the Engagement and Level Way Up 61

Chapter 61

Logan listened to Zane’s words and immediately felt less flustered. He collected himself and calmly signaled the others to leave.

The business partners sensed a subtle shift in Vivian’s attitude toward Logan. They didn’t press the matter and left politely.

They didn’t believe two people so tightly bound by interests would separate over feelings. In their world, profit was paramount, and emotional matters were trivial.

Zane lingered by Logan’s side until the last of the guests left. Only then did he lean closer and suggest, “Logan, the club I used to take you to has a new group of hostesses. They’re all young and attractive. You might want to check them out…”

Logan’s expression darkened, and a flicker of annoyance appeared in his eyes. “You go ahead. I need to go home and rest.‘

Zane noticed the tension on Logan’s face and offered a cautious tip. “Look, Logan, women need a little sweet–talking, but you can’t always put them on a pedestal. Sometimes letting her have a few days to herself does more good than you think. Your wedding’s just around the corner. If you start off ignoring her, she’ll be more nervous than anyone.”

Logan frowned and snapped, “Back off and quit feeding me these stupid ideas!”

Zane chuckled sheepishly. “I’m just trying to help you, Logan.”

Logan ignored him. The cold wind cut across his face, giving him a splitting headache.

Jack pulled the car up and stopped in front of Logan. Zane rushed to help him inside, and as he closed the door, he couldn’t resist one last bit of flattery. “Logan, Baymoor isn’t what it used to be. I’ve followed you for so many years; I hope when you enjoy your rewards, you’ll remember to share some of the benefits with us.‘

Logan waved him off. “Don’t worry. You’ll get your share.”

With a grin, Zane told Jack to look after Logan as he waved him off.

Jack drove in silence as they left the restaurant, then asked, “Mr. Whitfield, are we going back to the apartment, or…”

Logan pinched the bridge of his nose and closed his eyes. “To Solidaire.”

Jack hesitated. “Mr. Whitfield, the villa at Solidaire is under renovation.”

Chapter 61

Logan snapped his eyes open, feeling a wave of irritation.

He didn’t respond for a long while. Unsure of what to do, Jack cautiously pulled the car over to the side of the road. “Mr. Whitfield…”

Logan lifted his eyes to the rearview mirror. Jack assumed he had passed out from drinking, but Logan was fully awake, leaning silently against the seat, deep in thought.

After a long pause, Logan finally asked, “Do you think she’s figured it out?”

Jack froze, saying nothing.

“If she’s figured it out, what am I supposed to do?” Logan muttered, his words heavy with alcohol.

Jack didn’t dare answer. Through the rearview mirror, he could see Logan’s helplessness beneath the haze of drunkenness.

Jack had worked closely with Vivian for years at Whitfield Group before being assigned to Logan six months ago. Everyone assumed Vivian would never leave Logan, but Jack wasn’t so sure. He had seen her decisive, ruthless side at work. There was no way she was trapped by convenience or profit alone.

Jack had no answer to Logan’s question. He couldn’t even begin to picture the consequences if Vivian learned everything.
