Kingston looked at her puffed–up, sulky face. After a few seconds of thought, he picked up the figurine in his hand. “Do you like it that much?”
Vivian nodded vigorously. “I can’t even describe how I felt the moment I saw her. I was
stunned, and the emotions I felt were so complicated.”
It was as if she’d suddenly collided head–on with her own youth.
Her eyes shone brightly, unable to hide her delight.
Under her expectant gaze, Kingston merely placed the figurine back into the display cabinet.
“Some things only prove their value once they disappear,” he said.
Vivian felt as if a painful knot tightened around her chest. “It’s my design. How could it disappear?”
Kingston closed the cabinet door. “If you hadn’t seen it here today, would you have remembered it at all? You’ve forgotten about it for all these years. Isn’t that a kind of disappearance?”
He stood not far away, looking at her with a cold smile on his lips. “It once had a chance to be remembered by far more people.”
Vivian’s breathing faltered, and a trace of sadness flashed in her eyes.
Her face fell, as though Kingston’s words landed a fatal blow on her.
Kingston looked away and walked past her. He said calmly, “Do you still feel like looking at the project?”
Vivian snapped back from her earlier gloom.
When she saw Kingston already seated on the sofa, looking perfectly at ease, she snapped irritably, “Yes!”
Kingston didn’t move.
Seeing that he seemed rather uninterested in the Halcyon Group project, Vivian got annoyed. ‘ Mr. Howard, don’t tell me you don’t want to invest in the Halcyon Group after all?”
Kingston raised an eyebrow. “And what makes you say that?”
Vivian replied, “Just now, you clearly looked like the type who’d happily take advantage of my

emotional impulses. If I didn’t bring you to see the project, you’d conveniently use that as an excuse to back out of the investment.”
There was a glint in Kingston’s eyes as his lips curved up slightly, but didn’t quite form a
smile. “I guess you’re not stupid.”
She’d hit it right on the mark.
Vivian frowned, suddenly feeling a little nervous. “We’ve already agreed on this. Mr. Howard, are you planning to go back on your word?”
Kingston’s expression turned cold as his earlier ease faded. His tone carried a hint of seriousness. “I don’t like breaking promises, but I also don’t like partners who come to me for investment while secretly courting other investors behind my back.”
Vivian’s heart stopped for a moment. “Stella wouldn’t do something like that.”
Kingston said nothing, only lifting a hand to signal for her to call and confirm it herself.
Vivian reached for her phone, only then remembering it was still in Kingston’s car. “Mr. Howard, the Halcyon Group definitely hasn’t signed with anyone else. This project…”
Kingston cut her off, “Do you know who Stella contacted?”
Vivian shook her head. “No, I don’t.”
She’d only just learned of it from Kingston himself.
Kingston said flatly, “Your fiance.”
Vivian froze.
She’d already settled things with Kingston, yet Stelle had gone behind her back and contacted Logan again.
When she fell silent, Kingston frowned and loosened his collar slightly. “Ms. Hartwell, you may go. If you change your mind and decide not to sell the Whitfield Group’s shares to me, inform Theo early, so the legal team doesn’t waste time drafting the contract.”
Vivian hurriedly replied, “I won’t change my mind.”
Kingston looked up slightly. “Then I suppose I should thank you for your honesty and integrity.”
She could clearly hear the mockery in his words. Biting her lip lightly, Vivian cursed Stella in her heart. “Setting aside everything that’s happened so far, what do you think of the project itself, Mr. Howard?”
