Chapter 45
Vivian looked over and saw Theo waiting by the car, smiling at her.
She froze for a moment, then glanced down the steps at the hotel staff in black uniforms. A flicker of embarrassment crossed her eyes.
Her thoughts had drifted earlier, and she hadn’t noticed at all that she’d followed the wrong person. She had simply walked forward on instinct,
She quickened her pace and caught up with Kingston, saying, “Mr. Howard, my car is in the underground parking lot. I’ll drive over myself. We can just meet at the destination.”
Kingston frowned, lifted his wrist to check the time, and said in a low voice, “Have Theo drive your car over. I’m in a hurry.”
Theo immediately walked over with a polite smile. “Ms. Hartwell, may I have your keys?”
Vivian nodded blankly, took the keys out of her bag, and handed them to Theo.
After getting the keys, Theo turned and left.
Kingston had already gotten into the car. The driver stood respectfully by the door and gestured courteously for Vivian to get in.
She pursed her lips, bent down, and got into the car. In the end, she sat beside Kingston.
The driver thoughtfully closed the door for them and returned to the driver’s seat.
The moment he got in, Kingston instructed quietly, “Get her some ice.
Vivian hurriedly waved her hand. “I don’t eat ice cream.”
Kingston glanced sideways at her and said nothing.
The driver only smiled, took an ice pack out of the onboard refrigerator between the front seats, and handed it to Vivian. “Ms. Hartwell, put this on your face.”
Vivian’s mouth fell slightly open. Her head buzzed as she realized she’d embarrassed herself again.
Her cheek, which hadn’t hurt much before, suddenly burned with heat.
Kingston must have unlocked some passive skill that seemed to embarrass her every time he met her.
She smiled awkwardly and reached out with both hands to take the ice pack. “Thank you.”

The driver looked kind, but when he sensed a sharp gaze shooting toward him, he quickly added, “Mr. Howard was the one who thought of it.”
He definitely didn’t dare to take the credit.
Vivian turned slightly and said sincerely, “Thank you, Mr. Howard.”
Kingston gave a low grunt of acknowledgment, but he didn’t look at her. Instead, he simply pulled up a tissue from the side.
Vivian pursed her lips together and was just about to put the ice pack on her face when the
man beside her reached out and took it from her.
She was confused for a moment, then sho handing it back to her.
saw Kingston wrap the ice pack in the tissue before
After hesitating for a couple of moments, Vivian reached out and took it. “Thank you.”
This time, Kingston didn’t respond. He just put on his earphones, took out his phone, and started to play a game.
Vivian quietly withdrew her gaze and pressed the tissue–wrapped ice pack to her face. With the tissue as a barrier, the cold wasn’t too harsh when it touched her skin.
Kingston’s careful consideration for her made her feel a warmth that spread through her chest. But at the same time, it felt a little awkward.
The atmosphere in the car was exceptionally quiet.
Kingston was focused on his game, but he was just as awful as usual. She glanced at him a few times, unsure what to say. In the end, she decided to just turn away and look out the window.
It turned out to be a bad decision. The moment she did, her gaze fell on the scene in the car
beside theirs.
Sloane was holding a freshly cut fruit platter, feeding Logan with a fork as he focused on driving. There was a dazzling, blissful smile on her face.
Vivian frowned in disgust and looked away. She had to suppress the wave of nausea in her
stomach.
People said that it was a small world, but this felt way too small.
She’d just managed to compose herself, but they instantly ruined her mood.
Logan turned his head to avoid Sloane feeding him, and his eyes caught a familiar face. Immediately, his expression darkened.
