I Cancel the Engagement and Level Way Up Chapter 30

Chapter 30

Logan stood frozen in place, his expression stiff and ugly. Anger radiated off him in waves as he glared at Vivian.

She merely smiled back, calm and unflinching, unrepentant. “If you’re really that hungry, you can always eat out. I’m sure the breakfast places outside have more variety than what I can offer here.”

The mockery in her voice was unmistakable. His face turned cold in an instant. “After all these years together, you don’t even have this much trust in me?”

Vivian met Logan’s gaze. His expression was icy, his eyes free of guilt, as though everything she said was a personal insult and a false accusation. She almost wanted to applaud his

audacity.

“I fired her and explained everything to you. How long are you going to keep this up?”

She watched him with the cool scrutiny of someone sizing up a criminal. It only fueled his rage.

Vivian remained unmoved. The mockery in her eyes deepened, as if she were watching a

performance.

“Logan,” she said slowly, “do you take me for a fool?”

Logan’s chest tightened, a flicker of panic crossing his eyes. But he refused to let her see him falter, forcing his anger into a deeper scowl.

Vivian couldn’t help but find him amusing.

After seven years together, she knew his expressions and body language far too well. He had already betrayed all his emotions in front of her, yet still thought he was hiding them perfectly.

Seeing the derision in her eyes, Logan’s frustration boiled over.

“You-”

He’d barely started when a phone ringtone cut him off.

Vivian glanced at the phone beside her and raised an eyebrow slightly. The caller was Edgewell Group CEO, Connor Sharpe. She reached for her phone, but Logan snatched it away first.

He frowned at her, then slid to answer and put it on speaker.

Connor said, “Ms. Hartwell, I’ve thought over what you discussed with me yesterday. Let’s set

a time and sign the contract directly.”

Logan’s frown deepened, his eyes narrowing at Vivian.

Her hands clenched tightly at her sides, but she walked calmly over to him to take her phone

back from him.

“Certainly, Mr. Sharpe. We’ll keep the same contract terms as before. We can discuss the other details once I arrive,” she said calmly.

Connor replied, “Sounds good.”

Vivian exchanged a few more polite pleasantries before ending the call.

Logan stood beside her, his expression dark and stormy. “I’ll handle company matters. You’ve already left the company and don’t understand the current market demands. Going behind my back to contact Connor is completely disrupting my plans.”

That was exactly what she intended–to disrupt his plans. She even wanted to poach all of Whitfield Group’s business partners before he realized what was happening, then return to Durmont and start her own company. Unfortunately, most of the contracts hadn’t expired yet.

“I may have left the company, but I hold 51% of Whitfield Group’s shares,” Vivian said evenly. “Don’t forget that I’m the largest shareholder. I have the right to make decisions about anything involving the company.”

Vivian pocketed her phone and walked toward the kitchen with the dishes without sparing Logan another glance.

His chest rose and fell as he tugged irritably at his collar. His phone rang at that moment. The sweet, romantic ringtone that would normally be pleasant now felt inexplicably grating. He glared toward Vivian in the kitchen, then slid to answer, putting the phone to his ear.
