Sloane’s face turned ashen. The misty sadness in her eyes was gone, replaced by bitter
resentment and raw ambition.
She bit her lip hard, staring at the closed door for a long time before finally pulling out her phone and making a call.
“Mrs. Whitfield, it’s me, Sloane. We spoke before. Logan hasn’t told you, right? I’m pregnant. The doctor said I’m showing signs of possible miscarriage. I don’t have any family or friends here in Baymoor, so I could only call you. Could you come into the city to take care of me?”
The voice on the other end gasped before delight filled the voice.
“Really? Logan didn’t mention anything. Don’t worry. I’ll come first thing tomorrow morning and take care of you.”
Sloane smiled faintly and said, “Thank you, Mrs. Whitfield. I’ll be waiting.”
