I Cancel the Engagement and Level Way Up Chapter 24

Chapter 24

Vivian saw a glimmer of hope, and the stiff smile at the corner of her lips finally relaxed. She was about to speak when Kingston, reviewing the documents, added another line.

“If I purchase shares in Whitfield Group and you still want to get involved in the company’s future, then we don’t need to discuss this deal any further.”

He closed the file and set it aside casually, his deep black eyes sharp as they fixed on her.

She raised her gaze to meet him, her eyes showing no hint of retreat. “Mr. Howard, you’re overthinking this. Since I’ve already chosen to sell my shares to you, the company’s future development has nothing to do with me anymore.”

Having reached this point, she felt no attachment to Whitfield Group whatsoever. Those strategic plans were ones she’d written six months ago, only meant to show Kingston the company’s future prospects and potential.

Whatever path Kingston chose for Whitfield Group, or whether any clash with Logan might arise and affect the company’s future, it was no longer her concern.

The sharp edge in Kingston’s eyes softened considerably. “State your conditions.”

Vivian pressed her lips together. “We previously invested in a project, but due to certain circumstances, Logan unilaterally halted it and pulled funding. I hope you can continue investing in this project.”

After all, Stella had gotten Sloane fired while trying to stand up for her. Since she’d promised to handle the situation, she would resolve this crisis for Halcyon Group.

Kingston nodded slightly.

“That’s not an unreasonable request. I’m just curious whether you’d like me to invest as a Whitfield Group shareholder, or under the Howard Group name?” he asked casually, as though

it were idle conversation.

Vivian stiffened. She understood what he was really asking. If the investment went through Whitfield Group, it would mean she still cared enough to involve herself in its future. She paused, then spoke slowly.

“You should invest using whichever identity is most advantageous for you.”

Halcyon Group needed funding to get through this crisis. How Kingston chose to invest didn’t

matter.

He seemed quite satisfied with her answer. He chuckled softly and picked up the documents again.

“Name your price, Ms. Hartwell:”

“15 billion dollars.”

Since she was selling everything as a package deal, Vivian gave Kingston a small discount when negotiating.

Hearing her asking price, he raised an eyebrow slightly and said flatly, “Going back to Durmont to laze around and let your sister support you sounds like a pretty good plan.”

Vivian was speechless.

Kingston continued, “I’ll give you 20 billion after taxes, so Camille doesn’t think I’m lowballing you and make an issue out of it.”

Vivian had nothing to say. She could only nod awkwardly. “Thank you, Mr. Howard.”

Kingston’s expression remained neutral, showing no emotional change. “Once my team has the contract drafted, my lawyer will notify you to come sign it.”

She nodded. “Alright.”

With the deal settled, Vivian excused herself.

By the time she returned to Eleanor’s townhouse, her mood had lifted noticeably.

Logan entered the courtyard to find her humming softly as she tidied the garden, looking unusually at ease.
