I laughed in anger, found a photo of our marriage certificate, and sent it. “OMG,” came the reply, and then I was blocked.
I forwarded the record to James and turned off my phone.
There was a lot of paperwork.
By the time I finished at the office and turned my phone on, it was Mrs. Miller calling.
Her tone was sharp and rude: “Luna! Where are you? James got taken to the police station because of you!”
Baffled, I asked, “What happened?”
Her voice shook with anger.
“What happened? What did you send him? He started a fight! Emily and the others couldn’t stop him!”
“The police took him in for questioning. I’m out of town. You need to go check on him!”
“Honestly, what kind of wife are you? Are you being jealous again?”
She hung up before I could retort.
By the time I got to the station, James had already reached a settlement with the other party.
