Time Paused Between Silent Moments by Aven Slate 11
Chapter 11
Actually, in the beginning, it was James who proactively reported his schedule.
Later, I got used to it, but he grew tired of it.
The week passed in a flash.
On Sunday, James dressed neatly, trying to act casual, but the tie he wore betrayed how much he cared about this meeting.
It was the first gift I ever gave him, bought with six months’ salary.
When he received it, he said he’d treasure it and only wear it again on our golden anniversary.
And now, this tie reappeared for his date with another woman and her child.
After he left, I quietly took off the ring he gave me, placed it on the coffee table, right on top of the already-prepared divorce papers.
I packed my suitcase and boarded the flight to London.
If James had been a little more attentive, he would have noticed I was packing clothes lately.
If he had been a little more attentive, he would have noticed my belly showed no sign of a four-month pregnancy.
All his attention went to others.
He hated my constraints but willingly walked into someone else’s embrace.
In that case, a clean break was best.
