Hot Shower, Cold Heart by Mark Twain 29
Chapter 10
Chapter 10
A tidal wave of hatred and regret crashed over him.
He stepped out of the shadows, his footsteps heavy with fury.
The laughter in the living room died instantly.
Leah’s triumphant smile froze the second she saw his face-pale, twisted with rage. Terror replaced her grin.
“Stellan…?”
Stellan didn’t look at her. His cold gaze swept over Oceane first. She flinched, nearly dropping her wine glass.
“Get out.” His voice was low, but it carried the weight of destruction.
Oceane and the other friends scrambled out of the house.
Now it was just Stellan and Leah, trembling in the empty living room.
“Stellan, what’s wrong? Did you drink too much?” Leah forced herself to stay calm, reaching out to steady him.
Stellan shoved her hand away so hard she stumbled and fell to the floor.
He crouched down, grabbed her chin, and forced her to look up at him.
“Tell me.” His voice was raw.
“The depression. Was it fake?”
Leah’s pupils shrank. She tried to lie. “No, Stellan, let me explain-”
“The letter and the death certificate. You forged them, didn’t you?”
His grip tightened. Leah’s tears streamed down her face.
“The people at the hospital who accused Ella-you paid them off, didn’t you?”
“And the last time-when Ella was kidnapped and sent to that place for electroshock therapy-*that was you too, right?!*”
Each question hit like a sledgehammer, shattering Leah’s composure.

Chapter 10
She saw the murderous intent in his eyes and knew-it was over.
The beautiful castle of lies she’d built came crashing down.
Under Stellan’s relentless interrogation and brutal pressure, Leah’s defenses crumbled completely.
She confessed everything through sobs.
How she’d deliberately gotten close to him from the start.
How she’d staged that “accidental” kiss and pushed Ella down the stairs.
How she’d faked depression to win sympathy.
How she’d framed Ella with fabricated evidence.
How she’d orchestrated the fake threats against herself.
And finally, she’d hired people to kidnap Ella and send her to that hellish treatment facility…
She spilled it all, every filthy, calculated detail.
She cried and begged for mercy, saying she’d only done it because she loved him too much, because Ella had been in
her way…
Stellan listened, feeling nothing but nausea.
He let go of her and looked down at the pathetic, tear-streaked mess on the floor.
All he felt was cold disgust.
“Love?” He let out a bitter laugh. “You think *you* know what love is?
He stood up, pulled out his phone, and made a call. His voice was ice-cold, businesslike. “Send someone over. I need this handled.”
Within minutes, several men in black suits entered the house silently,
Stellan looked down at Leah, trembling on the floor, and delivered her sentence.
“Leah Morningstar is mentally unstable. She suffers from severe, aggressive delusional disorder. Take her to Serenity Island Sanatorium. She is not to leave without my permission. Ever.”
“No-! Stellan! I’m sorry! Please! *Stellan-!*”

Chapter 10
Leah’s screams echoed through the house as they dragged her away.
Everything she’d schemed for-the mansion, the title of Mrs. Vance-gone in an instant.
Stellan seized every asset he’d ever given her: property, jewelry, designer clothes. He left her with nothing but a hospital gown.
Serenity Island was no ordinary facility. It was a maximum-security psychiatric institution on a remote, desolate
island.
There, isolation, medication, and “treatment” would break even the sanest person.
Leah would spend the rest of her life there, paying for everything she’d done-slowly descending into real madness.
After dealing with Leah, Stellan threw every resource he had into finding Ella.
He searched hospital records. Tracked down every city she might have gone to. Offered massive rewards.
But Ella had vanished without a trace.
One year. Two years. Five years…
Time passed. Stellan’s business empire grew. But he became quieter. Darker.
He never got close to another woman. The position of Mrs. Vance remained empty.
He lived in endless regret and self-punishment, numbing himself with work and alcohol.
He was trapped in the moment he lost Ella.
And never escape it.
