End of the Contract,Start of His Obsession Chapter 48

William said slowly, “What are you doing, sneaking around in the middle of the night? For a second, I thought someone had broken into the house.”

“I wasn’t sneaking around,” Scarlet said. “Why…”

She wanted to ask him why he was here. Suddenly, Scarlet remembered that William and the others had gone skiing today.

The ski resort was located not too far from here. Perhaps William decided to stay here on his way back since this place was the closest.

Scarlet couldn’t help but wonder if William had brought Nicole here as well.

She felt as though there was an invisible hand squeezing her heart, and all the air was knocked out of her chest. She felt like she might suffocate at any moment.

Couldn’t they just wait for a bit longer? They should have at least waited until the procedures were completed. Was that too much to ask for?

As William walked down the stairs, Scarlet spotted some red marks on his neck.

It was quite warm inside the house. Yet, her blood ran cold.

Scarlet tightened her fists. She turned around and was about to leave, but then the sound of objects being flipped around

came from behind her.

William asked, “Where’s the first–aid kit?”

Scarlet’s voice was strained. “It’s in the second drawer to your right.”

William opened the drawer and took out the first–aid kit. Scarlet was about to step toward the door when he asked another question. “Which one is for treating allergies?”

Scarlet couldn’t be bothered to tell him the answer. “You can search for the information online yourself.”

William snorted. “What a dedicated doctor you are, Dr. Benson! Your cats are the reason why I’m having allergies now. Even if you don’t plan on upholding your professional ethics around me, you should at least take some responsibility for my current condition. Don’t you think so?”

Then, he threatened her in a soft voice, “It’s fine if you don’t want to take any responsibility. Just don’t blame me if I throw your cats out in the cold.”

Scarlet had no choice but to yield since she didn’t want the cats to get kicked out of the house.

She stood there for a few seconds before she clenched her jaw and turned around. “Pass the first–aid kit to me.”

William cast her a glance and passed the box to her.

Since the villa had been left empty for quite some time, most of the medicine had expired. Scarlet managed to find only one tube of ointment that was still within the expiry date.

“You should apply this ointment twice a day. There aren’t any antihistamines in this box that you can take, so take some once you head home tomorrow.”

William didn’t take the tube of ointment from her. He sat on the couch and pulled his collar loose. “Help me apply the ointment.”

Scarlet remained in the same spot. “You can just ask the person upstairs to do it for you.”

William lifted his gaze. “What do you mean by the person upstairs? Are you saying this place is haunted?”

Was Nicole not here?

She stared at William’s face for a while and confirmed that he wasn’t lying before moving closer to help him apply the ointment.

There were a lot of rashes on the back of the right side of William’s neck. The red marks that Scarlet saw earlier weren’t hickeys but were most likely scratch marks left by William.

The back of William’s neck wasn’t properly illuminated due to the direction he was facing, sitting on the couch. Scarlet had to bend down and lean forward to see properly. She gently applied the ointment with her index finger over the area where the rashes were to help with the absorption.

While she was focused on applying the ointment, William suddenly clicked his tongue and tilted his head further away. “Are you doing it on purpose?”

“Does it hurt?” Scarlet thought he was being quite whiny. “I’m doing it very gently.”

“What I’m saying is that you shouldn’t keep blowing air onto my neck.”

Scarlet was rendered speechless. “You do realize that even insects need to breathe.”

William fixed his gaze on her. He said, “I’m aroused.”

There was a brief moment of silence.

Scarlet’s cheeks grew hot, and her face flushed red. “That’s because you’re a pervert.”

She straightened herself up and tried to step back. However, William caught hold of her wrist. With a little tug, he managed to get Scarlet sitting on his lap.

“Let go of me!”

Scarlet tried to stand up, but William’s hands were very large and strong. He had a firm grip on her legs. Instead of letting her go, he pulled her closer toward him.

Scarlet could clearly tell how William’s body was reacting to her through the sensations she felt against her bottom.

This house and the close proximity between her and William instantly reminded Scarlet of the memories she had on this couch.
