Soon enough, several vehicles arrived outside the restaurant. When Scarlet and her colleagues were heading in, Alexis and her friends happened to be leaving the restaurant after having dinner there.
“Scarlet?” Alexis was a little surprised to see her there.
Scarlet stopped and replied, “What a coincidence. Were you and your friends here for dinner?”
“It’s my birthday today. I invited some friends to have dinner together,” Alexis explained. “Silas told me that Mr. Cooper and Shaun went skiing. I thought you were with them, so I didn’t invite you along.”
She said apologetically, “I should have called and asked you personally.”
“It’s alright. I was away on a business trip.” Scarlet added, “Also, happy birthday.”
She went on her way after that brief exchange with Alexis. Before entering their private room, Scarlet took her phone out and went through her Instagram.
Unlike Julian, who was raised to be the Cooper family’s successor, the only expectation the Coopers had for William was for him to enjoy a life of pleasure and indulgence.
William didn’t have to take any of the lessons Julian took regarding finance, economics, sociology, and international relations. Instead, he took up various expensive hobbies requiring vast knowledge in geography and astronomy, such as sailing and skiing. Moreover, he was very good at them.
