Divorced, Upgraded, and Married Rich Chapter 89

Divorced While Pregnant The Ex-Husband’s Collapse 89

At the hospital, Natalie trailed behind Jeffrey as they made their way toward Abigail’s ward. Every now and then, Jeffrey would turn around to glance at Natalie.

“I’m still here,” she said. “Relax. I’m not going to make a run for it.”

He pursed his lips. “Keep up.”

Natalie was being unusually quiet. So, he couldn’t shake the feeling that something was amiss.

“Okay, whatever you say.”

She quickened her pace and caught up to him before falling into step by his side.

Abigail was having breakfast when the pair arrived. She was dressed in a patient’s gown,

looking frail but composed.

When she heard the door open, she lifted her head and flashed Jeffrey an ecstatic expression.‘ Jeff! You’re here.”

She asked thoughtfully, “Have you had breakfast? Since you have a sensitive stomach, you should have your meals in a timely manner.”

Jeffrey walked over to her, arching a brow. “Has your voice returned?”

“Yeah, it has.” Abigail nodded. “It still sounds a bit hoarse and raspy, though. It’ll take a few days before it can recover completely.”

“That’s good to hear.”

“Don’t worry about me. I’m perfectly fine.”

Abigail’s attention was wholly focused on Jeffrey. Because of this, she didn’t notice Natalie standing by the doorway at all.

Natalie stayed by the door and didn’t step into the ward. Jeffrey and Abigail’s interaction didn’t stir up any emotion at all. In fact, she just wanted to get this ordeal over with.

She wanted to head to the gallery as soon as possible, but she was also looking forward to watching the situation here unfold. She couldn’t wait to see the looks on those two’s faces once she apologized to Abigail.

As she was thinking about it, Jeffrey glanced in her direction.

“Why are you standing all the way over there? Have you forgotten why you’re here?” he asked.

“Not at all,” Natalie responded.

“Come in.”

“Why can’t I apologize from over here?”

Jeffrey frowned.

“Jeff.” Abigail gently tugged on Jeffrey’s sleeve. “Is Natalie actually here to apologize to me?”

“Yeah. I always keep my word,” he replied.

Abigail seemed doubtful. “Judging by her personality, she wouldn’t give in so easily. Does she

have any ulterior motives?”

Jeffrey had his doubts as well, but everything seemed perfectly fine.

At that moment, the doctor, accompanied by a nurse and several interns, came for their morning rounds. Outside the ward, countless patients and visiting family members were rushing about in the hallway.

When the timing felt right, Natalie cleared her throat. Then, she announced clearly, “I’m here to apologize to you, Abigail Wright! I hope that you can forgive me for what I’ve done!”

As her voice echoed down the corridor, several people instantly turned to look at her. What was all the fuss about? What was going on?

With a neutral expression, Natalie continued, “You interfered in my marriage with Jeffrey. While you stayed abroad, my husband supported you financially for five whole years. You supported him from the shadows, not caring about official titles or your reputation. Everyone calls you the other woman, but you can’t care less about that either.

“Despite the obstacles you face, you’ve never left Jeffrey’s side. On multiple occasions, you even approached me–his lawfully–wedded wife–to taunt me.

“However, I’d still like to tell you I’m sorry. If I don’t apologize, Jeffrey won’t let the matter slide.”

She added, “It looks like your pillow talk worked. You win. I was wrong, and I’ll step down as his wife. Is this good enough for the two of you?”

The people around immediately began to whisper among themselves.

“The woman in that ward is a homewrecker?”

“How shameless!”

“His wife is clearly prettier than the mistress. Is the guy blind?”

“Men… How typical. They’re always convinced that the grass is greener on the other side.”

Jeffrey pursed his lips. This had clearly been Natalie’s plan all along.

Abigail’s face paled. “She’s embarrassing me in front of everyone, Jeff….”

“Natalie Bennett!” Jeffrey gritted his teeth. “Do you have a death wish?”

“I’ve apologized!” Natalie said matter–of–factly. “I said I was sorry! Either way, I did everything you instructed me to do.”

She continued, “Besides, what’s wrong with what I said? Everything I had just declared was true. You cheated on me, and she’s fully aware that she’s a mistress!”

Jeffrey’s expression darkened, and he began to march toward Natalie. Subsequently, Natalie instinctively took a step back

Upon seeing that, the bystanders surged forward to try to shield her from him.
