Divorced, Upgraded, and Married Rich Chapter 87

Divorced While Pregnant The Ex-Husband’s Collapse 87

Chapter 87

Martha was still somewhat skeptical. “Really, Mrs. Foster?”

“Yes, everything’s fine,” Natalie replied.

“Alright. If anything comes up, make sure you let me know right away,” Martha responded.

“Okay.”

Only then did Martha leave.

Jeffrey, however, still had his hand around Natalie’s neck.

What he hadn’t expected was that the reason Natalie was so cooperative in fooling Martha wasn’t out of concern for Caroline’s health but because she was worried about the divorce not going through. Had her years of love for him vanished just like that? Why?

Suddenly, Jeffrey’s mind flashed with Johnson’s face.

Ah, he almost forgot. Natalie had moved on with a new man.

On the day they filed for divorce, Johnson was waiting for her outside the courthouse. When she wanted to take over Stephen’s business, Johnson was the one who helped her with his connections. Later, when she wanted to set up the art gallery, Johnson was by her side, supporting her.

With a wonderful new man like that, why would she still care about him, her ex–husband? A storm of jealousy surged in Jeffrey’s chest. Then, he stopped himself.

Jealousy? Why would he be jealous? No, it was anger, frustration, and contempt. Natalie’s words about loving him were just cheap talk.

Feeling the intensity of Jeffrey’s gaze on her, Natalie suddenly felt a cold chill run down her back. She couldn’t stand to look into those eyes for too long.

“Let go,” she said, raising her hand and placing her slender fingers around his wrist. She added, “Or are you planning to strangle me to get revenge for Abigail?”

Jeffrey remained expressionless as he slightly loosened his grip. “Go apologize to her.”

“No.”

His fingers tightened again. “Don’t let me repeat myself.”

Natalie held firm. “I’m not apologizing for something I didn’t do! No matter how much you threaten me, I won’t give in.”

If she apologized, it would mean admitting she had poisoned Abigail’s drink. She wasn’t going

to take the blame for that.

The two of them were at a stalemate.

Jeffrey adjusted his glasses and stepped closer to her.

Even through the frame of his glasses, Natalie could feel the intense pressure of his

gaze.

He slowly and deliberately said, “Do you believe me when I say I’ll ensure that your art gallery won’t open for business tomorrow? Hm?”

Natalie’s eyes widened in shock. “Jeffrey! You’re an asshole!”

With his power and influence in Caspia City, it would be easy for him to ruin her gallery. She was just starting out, so she was nowhere near strong enough to fight back.

Jeffrey smirked, his lips curling into a cold smile. “Yes, but it’s very effective.”

She swung her hand, aiming for his face, but before her hand could make contact, he caught her wrist. The pressure on her bones made her wince.

Grinding her teeth, she asked, “If I apologize and Abigail still tries to make things difficult for me, what then?”

“She’s not like that.”

Natalie inwardly rolled her eyes. In his mind, Abigail was always pure and flawless, wasn’t she? Men were so easy to deceive.

But out loud, Natalie asked, “So if I go to Abigail and apologize, everything will be fine, right?”

“Yeah.”

She smiled. “Are you sure?”

Jeffrey released her wrist, his arm falling to his side. His muscles tensed up as he said, “I don’t have time to waste on telling lies.”

“Fine. I’ll apologize,” Natalie agreed without hesitation.

Her sudden change in attitude caught Jeffrey’s attention, making him study her closely. It was clear that using her gallery as blackmail was the most effective way to get to her.

But for some reason, Jeffrey couldn’t shake the feeling that there was a sly look in her eyes. Was she plotting something?
