Divorced While Pregnant The Ex-Husband’s Collapse 79
Chapter 79
“I’m just addressing you according to your status as gallery director,” Stacy replied, smiling.” Where will the celebration party be held tonight?”
Natalie was about to answer when Stacy gasped, shushing her. “Wait, you can tell me afterward. If certain people overhear, they might shamelessly mooch a meal off you again.”
Jeffrey frowned. He was aware of Stacy’s personality–outspoken and unafraid of offending
others.
Abigail was also acquainted with Stacy. Back in university, all the photos of Jeffrey and Natalie together circulating on the forum had been taken by Stacy. Stacy had rooted for them back then, so much so that she couldn’t help but become utterly obsessed with them.
She never expected Abigail to butt in.
Stacy scoffed. “Certain people are not invited to the celebratory party, so they’d better have some tact and not spoil the fun. Oh, right!”
O
She seemed to have recalled something and said excitedly, “The celebratory party will be held in conjunction with the initiation banquet to celebrate your apprenticeship. I’ve arranged
everything.
“From now on, you’ll be the sole apprentice of the renowned painter, Daniel Wagner, and have his techniques passed down to you. Soon enough, I’m sure there’ll be a rising star in the art circle–our very own Natalie!”
Jeffrey was a little astonished. “You were the one who introduced Daniel to Natalie?”
Stacy nodded. “Sure did. Is there a problem? Natalie’s business is my business. Since she’s opened a gallery, I’d definitely use my resources and connections to support her! I’m not like you, bringing your mistress over to be a buzzkill.”
Abigail bit her lip so hard that it turned pale. “I’m not a mistress.”
Stacy looked like she had heard the world’s biggest joke. “What are you, then? His true love? Before you appeared, Jeffrey and Natalie were childhood friends and a couple deeply in love. When you appeared, they were already legally married.
“Who do you think you are? Is a mistress who claims it’s true love still not a mistress?”
Abigail did her best to reason with her. “Jeff wanted to break up and call off the engagement, but Natalie wouldn’t agree.”
“She didn’t agree, which meant they still hadn’t broken up. So, you are a mistress! Doesn’t that make perfect sense?”

Abigail’s lips paled even more. She couldn’t win the argument.
Her voice got increasingly smaller as she spoke. “I went abroad after Jeff got married. It was only until they divorced that I… I…”
Abigail’s mouth opened and closed, but she couldn’t muster a single word. She parted her lips and did her best to raise her voice, but not a sound escaped even after several attempts.
The lounge suddenly became extremely silent.
Abigail grabbed Jeffrey’s hand, looking extremely anxious and as if she were about to cry. With a deeply worried expression, she raised a hand to point at her throat.
Jeffrey immediately understood. “You lost your voice?”
Abigail nodded repeatedly. It seemed she had become mute and couldn’t muster a word. All she could do was gesture with her hands. She incessantly pointed at her throat, then mimed drinking.
“You want to drink some water?” Jeffrey guessed what she meant. He swiftly picked up the cup of tea Natalie had served him earlier and handed it to Abigail.
Abigail waved her hands fiercely before pointing at the cup of tea in Jeffrey’s hands, then at the cup she’d drunk from earlier. She was trying to say… that there was something wrong with
the tea.
Jeffrey loosened his grip, and the teacup fell straight to the floor, shattering into pieces with a resounding crash. He stared grimly at Natalie. “What did you put in the tea?”
Natalie was stunned. What did this have to do with her?
“Ab lost her voice because she drank your tea,” Jeffrey said, questioning her. “Natalie, how dare you? You cruel, vicious woman!”
