Divorced While Pregnant The Ex-Husband’s Collapse 74
Chapter 74
Natalie was definitely out of her mind. What had she been hoping for?
She clutched her chest, feeling her heart pounding. Even after a long time, she still couldn’t calm down.
As for Jeffrey–the culprit–he picked up his mug and took a sip of his coffee. He began eating his breakfast at a relaxed pace.
Natalie kept taking deep breaths.
It was fine. She, too, could act as if nothing had happened and take a seat at the table. In fact, she even purposely chose to sit directly across from Jeffrey. That would put some distance
between them.
Martha entered the dining room, carrying a pot of stew. Its aroma filled the air before it was even set on the table.
“Here you go, Mrs. Foster. This stew will help to nourish your health and improve your complexion,” Martha said with a smile. “Let me get you a bowl.”
Natalie took the bowl from her and tried the soup. Her expression softened, and her face lit up with surprise. “This is delicious! Martha, I didn’t realize you could cook so well.”
Natalie could cook too, but she would never be on Martha’s level.
The key to preparing good stews was choosing the right ingredients and controlling the heat. Otherwise, they could easily become too rich.
Martha’s stew was light and refreshing. Even drinking it felt comforting.
“Of course. Otherwise, Mrs. Foster Senior wouldn’t have asked me to look after you, Mrs. Foster,” Martha said. “Once you’re done with breakfast, remember to take your herbal tonic.”
Natalie’s hand holding the spoon hovered in the air.
Martha continued, “The Foster residence will no longer deliver the herbal tonics. From now on, I’ll be in charge of everything.”
“Oh… Alright. Of course,” Natalie said.
Suddenly, the stew no longer seemed delicious. She didn’t know what to do. She quickly looked up at Jeffrey, who was sitting directly across from her. He didn’t seem to have heard anything and remained unbothered by her predicament.
Furious, Natalie kicked him under the table.

Finally, Jeffrey looked up lazily. “Yes?”
Natalie complained, “This herbal tonic… It’s bitter. It’s really bitter, honey.”
She was putting on a show again. Perhaps she deserved to win the Best Actress award.
Jeffrey knew she wanted him to help her get out of drinking the herbal tonic.
“Even if it’s bitter, I can’t do anything,” Jeffrey replied. “It’ll help you conceive. Just bear with it.”
“What if I finish the entire course of herbal tonics and still don’t get pregnant?” Natalie blinked innocently at him. “Is it… Is it possible you’re not up to it?”
Jeffrey narrowed his eyes instantly. Not up to it?
“Say that again.” He looked as if he were ready to drag her into the bedroom immediately just to prove himself.
Natalie immediately backed down.
When Martha served her the herbal tonic, the smell of the dark liquid was enough to make Natalie feel queasy.
“Mrs. Foster, just pinch your nose and finish it in one go. I’ve prepared some honey and candy for you,” Martha said. “It’ll help with the bitterness.”
Natalie quickly looked at Jeffrey, who raised an eyebrow.
“Just drink it.” After all, the herbal tonic wasn’t poisonous.
Natalie decided to drink the tonic. It had no side effects and would help nourish her health. Though harmless, it was extremely bitter.
In the past, Jeffrey had ordered Jacob to dump the herbal tonic that had been delivered into the toilet. Now, Martha was watching them. Natalie had no choice but to drink it.
Jeffrey leaned back in his chair. He held his coffee mug, gazing at her with relaxed ease.
Natalie forced herself to pick up the mug. The closer it got, the more pungent it became. She slowly brought the mug to her lips. She would drink it for now and make herself throw it up in the bathroom later.
She just wanted to get through this for today. However… Before Natalie could even drink the herbal tonic, her stomach started churning violently, and nausea overtook her. All she wanted to do was throw up.
