Divorced While Pregnant The Ex-Husband’s Collapse 70
Chapter 70
Abigail entered the living room eagerly. At first glance, she spotted Jacob and Martha, who stood next to him. However, she didn’t take her seriously.
“Where’s Jeff?” Abigail asked Jacob. “Is he still asleep?”
“Yes, Mr. Foster is still asleep.”
She checked the time. “At this hour? That’s strange. Jeff never sleeps in. I’ll go and wake him up.”
She headed toward the staircase without a second thought.
Martha quickly stepped forward and blocked her path. “Ms. Wright, outsiders are not allowed to go up to the second floor.”
Abigail pointed to herself. “Outsiders? Are you talking about me?”
“Yes,” Martha replied.
O
She frowned. “Are you new here? Don’t you recognize me?”
“I do know you, Ms. Wright.”
“Then why are you stopping me?”
Martha retorted, “Why shouldn’t I? Are you the lady of Foster Garden?”
Abigail replied confidently, “I will be very so
She was determined to claim the position of Jeffrey’s wife.
Martha sized her up from head to toe, making Abigail feel deeply uncomfortable.
“Who hired you? You’re so rude and ill–mannered,” Abigail snapped before turning to Jacob. ” Fire her. I don’t want to see her at Foster Garden anymore.”
From her tone and attitude, it was clear that she believed she was already the lady of the house.
“Uh…” Jacob didn’t know what to say, and his expression was awkward. Even Jeffrey couldn’t send Martha away, let alone Abigail.
Martha was placed here by Caroline herself. Who would dare to touch her?
Abigail raised an eyebrow. “What, do my words not count? Fine, I’ll speak to Jeff myself later.”
She refused to believe that she couldn’t deal with a lowly housekeeper. Abigail sidestepped Martha and continued heading toward the stairs.

Seeing that, Martha quickly blocked her way once more and said, “Ms. Wright, judging by how familiar you are with this place, this must not be your first visit. Have you always come and gone so freely?”
Abigail lifted her chin arrogantly. “Of course.”
Martha continued, “In that case, it seems Mrs. Foster is simply too soft–hearted and kind. She needs someone firm to stand by her side.”
Hearing that, Abigail suddenly understood. “You’re one of Natalie’s people.”
She knew Natalie wouldn’t give up her position as Jeffrey’s wife so easily. She faked the divorce and moved out, yet she had secretly placed her own people at Foster Garden.
Hah!
Abigail pointed at Martha, her finger nearly poking her face. “You, leave Foster Garden immediately. Right now and not a second longer!”
Martha stood her ground. “You have no authority to decide whether I stay or leave, Ms. Wright.
”
Abigail turned to Jacob. “What are you standing around for? Call the guards and throw her out!
Jacob looked hesitant.
Abigail snapped, “What, I can’t touch Natalie’s people? Today, I absolutely-”
Suddenly, Jeffrey’s voice rang out. “Ab.”
He stood by the railing on the second floor, wearing a dress shirt and trousers. His figure was tall and imposing as he walked down the stairs at an unhurried pace.
A gentle smile appeared on Abigail’s face when she saw him. Her arrogant and condescending attitude from earlier vanished without a trace. At that moment, she seemed like a completely different person.
“Jeff, you came at just the right time. Who is this woman? She actually stopped me from going upstairs to see you.”
Abigail lifted the lunchbox in her hand. “I made some breakfast and brought it here specially for you. It’s your favorite.”
Jeffrey replied indifferently, “She’s Martha, the housekeeper my grandma personally assigned to work here.”
