Divorced, Upgraded, and Married Rich Chapter 54

Divorced While Pregnant The Ex-Husband’s Collapse 54

Chapter 54

Natalie answered immediately, “Alright.”

Her readiness caught Jeffrey off guard. “You’re not even going to ask what it is?”

She replied, “Just say it, and as long as it’s something I can do, I’ll agree. And even if I can’t, I’ll do my best.”

He turned slightly, looking at her with an unreadable expression. “You’re getting more and more sensible.”

Natalie scoffed. “After losing so much and paying such a high price, there would be something seriously wrong with my head if I still haven’t learned anything.”

Jeffrey shot back, “What losses have you taken? What price have you paid?”

In his view, she had been living in luxury after marrying him. For five years, she was well clothed, well fed, and respected by everyone. Was that still not enough?

As for after the divorce, that was her own fault. Who told her to steal what belonged to Abigail? If you forcefully took something that belonged to someone else, then you deserved the punishment that came along with it.

Natalie smiled. “Jeffrey, in your eyes, you still think I came out ahead, didn’t I? I spent five years fawning over you, but did I owe you that? No, I did it willingly because I loved you.”

He asked, “So, you don’t love me anymore?”

She steered the conversation back. “Can you get back to the point?”

It was utterly pointless to talk about love.

Jeffrey lifted his head slightly. “After the divorce is finalized, I want to marry Ab.”

Natalie nodded. “I know.”

But what did that have to do with her? He could marry whoever he wanted. He could keep any

number of mistresses as well. It was none of her business.

Jeffrey continued, “But my grandma won’t agree, so I need you to persuade her. I need her to

accept Ab into the family.”

Natalie froze for a moment, then smiled in sudden understanding. So, that was it.

She said, “If I persuade Caroline, you’ll let Stephen go. Is that it?”

“Yes.” Jeffrey nodded. It was a simple transaction.

Jeffrey was paving the way for Abigail to marry into the Foster family. Since Natalie was desperate to save Stephen, he would take advantage of the situation to make this demand.

“Natalie, do you agree?” Jeffrey asked.

A mocking expression appeared on his face as he asked again, “Well?”

Natalie nodded. “I can agree to it, but I can’t guarantee I’ll succeed. What I can promise is that I’ll give it everything I’ve got.”

Caroline’s stance wasn’t something Natalie could change with just a few words.

At her age, Caroline was extremely traditional and utterly repulsed by someone like Abigail, a vixen who had appeared out of nowhere.

In her eyes, Jeffrey and Natalie had been engaged since childhood, and they got married upon reaching adulthood. They were childhood sweethearts who knew each other inside out–the perfect match.

And Abigail? Who was she? On what grounds was she trying to barge into the family? In her

dreams!

Jeffrey kept his hands clasped behind his back. “I also can’t guarantee that Stephen will be spared from prison.”

Natalie shot upright on the couch, furious. “You!”

His expression remained calm. “That’s fair, isn’t it? If you can do it, then so can I.

She clenched her teeth hard. “Fine!”

The corner of Jeffrey’s lips curved upward.

Natalie said, “Even if you didn’t use Stephen to threaten me, I’d still do everything I can to persuade Caroline. Since you like Abigail so much, I genuinely want to help you fulfill your

wish.”

She would see if they would remain deeply in love once they truly got what they wanted. Or would their feelings slowly crumble and collapse under the trivialities of marriage? After all, love and marriage were two different things.

Jeffrey asked, “Help me fulfill my wish? Why didn’t you do that five years ago?”

Natalie said, “Because I was an idiot back then.”

He raised an eyebrow. “And now?”

“Now, you’re the idiot.” Natalie really wanted to say that, but she swallowed the words back
