Divorced, Upgraded, and Married Rich Chapter 48

Divorced While Pregnant The Ex-Husband’s Collapse 48

Chapter 48

Felix was so overjoyed that he couldn’t hide the excitement on his face.

Abigail, on the other hand, remained much more composed. Her expression barely changed as she asked hesitantly, “But Natalie won’t agree to that, will she?”

“Do the police need Natalie’s permission to arrest someone and lock them up?” Jeffrey replied coolly.

Abigail sighed. “Honestly, I feel like this matter shouldn’t have escalated to this point, but…”

She then looked at Natalie. “Let’s follow the legal process. Whatever should happen, will happen.”

Stephen looked completely stunned. He asked, “Mr. Foster, are you really going to send me to prison?”

Jeffrey retorted, “Didn’t you commit a crime?”

“Aren’t you going to ask what actually happened? Felix insulted Natalie, smeared her, and spread rumors about her. I hit him because he deserved it!”

“And what, exactly, did Felix say?”

“He claimed she drank and slept with her clients!”

“She did,” Jeffrey replied flatly. “I saw it with my own eyes.”

Stephen’s mouth hung wide open, unable to utter a single word.

Jeffrey continued coolly, “And he said she was involved with Johnson. Isn’t that right?”

Felix nodded eagerly. “Yes! Mr. Foster, everyone in Caspia City’s business circles knows about it. I only heard it secondhand. I’d had a few drinks and was gossiping with friends, and Stephen insisted I was slandering her. Then, he smashed a bottle over my head.”

Jeffrey’s expression remained icy, and he didn’t say another word as he turned to leave. Abigail and Felix immediately followed.

Stephen slowly turned his head toward Natalie.

Under the lights, Natalie’s expression was pale as a sheet of paper. She knew it would end up like this.

Stephen asked, trembling, “What do I do? I’m really going to prison, aren’t I?”

Natalie took a deep breath. “Wait for me.”

Then, she ran after them.

Jeffrey was walking at the front, while Abigail was supporting Felix, whispering to each other.

Natalie ran straight up to Jeffrey and reached out to block his path.

“Let Stephen go,” she said, getting straight to the point. Then, she added, “Please.”

Jeffrey looked at her coldly. “And why should I?”

Natalie pleaded, “You can ask anything of me. Just let my brother go. He can’t go to prison.”

If he did, his life would be ruined.

No matter what, Natalie had to protect Stephen. He was the only family she had left in this world.

Jeffrey’s lips curled into an unreadable smile. “Anything at all?”

Natalie nodded.

Jeffrey said, “Then, kneel.”

“Okay.” Without the slightest hesitation, Natalie bent her knees and knelt straight down in front of Jeffrey.

There was no pause or resistance. Her movements were swift and decisive.

Jeffrey’s eyes widened slightly as he looked down at her.

Natalie asked, “Is this enough? Will you let Stephen go now?”

Her obedience, humility, and degradation brought Jeffrey no sense of satisfaction at all. Instead, it only irritated him even

more.

He mocked, “Natalie, are you really this spineless? Is your dignity really worth nothing?”

She replied calmly, “Yes. It’s worth nothing.”

No matter how Jeffrey humiliated her, she endured it all.

It felt to him like he was punching cotton. No matter how much force he used, he couldn’t feel any impact at all.
