Divorced, Upgraded, and Married Rich Chapter 36

Chapter 36

Chapter 36

“You’re not a kid anymore,” Matilda said to Lucian. “Stop running around all day. When are you going to get a wife?”

“All right, I’ll get you a biter.” After patting the back of his mother’s hand, Lucian walked right out of the living room.

Scarlet was a little slow to catch on. She asked her daughter, who was next to her, “What does Lucian mean by that?”

Selena was quite smart, so she caught on instantly. She explained, “What Uncle Lucian means is that you called Sarah a dog, so if she bit your hand, then she’s a biter. He also called you guys dogs, and poopers at that, too.”

“That brat!” Scarlet finally understood and was so mad that she rolled up her sleeves, ready to wreak havoc. However, as soon as she met Matilda’s gaze, she immediately shrank back.

Matilda summoned Rowan to her tea parlor.

“So you two actually divorced?” she asked, her voice heavy with disappointment.

“Yes, Natalie was the one who asked for it.” Rowan shifted all the blame onto Natalie.

“Then why would she want to get a divorce?” Matilda pressed, her voice stern.

“She probably doesn’t want to live with me anymore,” Rowan answered nonchalantly.

Matilda slammed her hand on the table and said angrily, “Aren’t you the one who made it hard for her to keep living with you? You kept flirting with Imogen. Even I, a mere bystander, could barely put up with it.

“We both know that Natalie is kind and good-natured. If you hadn’t done that, she wouldn’t have asked for a divorce!”

“Grandma, nothing… nothing’s going on between Imogen and me. Don’t put it like that.” Rowan tried to refute the accusation, but even he himself didn’t sound sure of his argument.

Even if something were going on between him and Imogen, he felt that it was Natalie’s fault for not taking care of him despite being his wife.

Every time he went home, he would get mad when he saw Natalie’s infuriating face. He had absolutely no desire to share a

bed with her.

“Fine,” Matilda replied. “If you don’t like what you’re hearing, I wouldn’t want to waste my breath on you either.”

She added, “I know I was the one who forced you to marry Natalie back then, but I only wanted to get you a good wife. And now, you’re the one who ruined your own family. If you ever regret it, don’t come crying to me.”

It was raining heavily that night when Natalie took Sarah to the villa in the southern district. She took out the keys and unlocked the gate.

When the two walked into the yard, Natalie felt like she had come to the wrong place.

The yard was in a mess, and all the plants and flowers were ruined.

“Mommy, it’s so dark here. I’m scared.” Sarah gripped Natalie’s hand tightly as they huddled under the umbrella.

“It’s okay, Sarah,” Natalie said. “From now on, this is our home.”

She had been here on several occasions. She only wanted this villa because it was in a school district, so it was quite close to Sarah’s school.

If they lived here, it would be much more convenient for her to take Sarah to and from school. They wouldn’t have to squeeze with the passengers in a bus or walk miles to get a cab.

Turning on the flashlight on her phone, Natalie shone the light around the living room. It was a huge luxury villa, but all its furnishings were cleared. Even the walls around them were severely damaged.

The ceiling was gone, and most of the roof tiles were damaged as well. Rain was already leaking into the house.

“Mommy, why is this house so messy?” Sarah asked in her childish tone.

“Don’t worry. I’ll get some renovation workers to fix it tomorrow, and it’ll be as good as new,” Natalie comforted her daughter.

This villa looked like a wreck. Scarlet must have hired someone to trash the place.

Sarah’s stomach suddenly let out a growl.

“Are you hungry?” Natalie gently asked her daughter.

“Yes.” Sarah nodded.

“Let’s stay at Carmen’s place tonight. We’ll ask her to make something yummy for us, okay?” Natalie suggested.

The two had just walked out of the living room when a loud crash echoed from the yard.

Natalie hastily pulled her daughter into her arms, fearing that the sound might have startled Sarah. Soon, she saw light coming from the direction of the crash.

A flashlight’s beam cut through the darkness. Immediately after that, they heard footsteps in the rain.
