Chapter 25

“The bedroom is so dusty. What have you been doing? Why didn’t you clean it up?” Rowan demanded.

“No one is staying there anyway. What’s the point of cleaning it?” Facing the furning Rowan, Natalie seemed exceptionally calm.

“You’re supposed to tidy up the house,” Rowan said, walking toward her. “What do I need you for if you can’t even handle such a small task?”

“You want me to do the chores and take care of the whole family for free, huh?”

“You-“Rowan hadn’t expected Natalie to shoot back. He suddenly felt like Natalie had eavesdropped on his conversation with Imogen.

Just then, Scarlet walked into the living room.

“I can hear you talking back from afar,” Scarlet chided haughtily. “What? Are you sick of being the Paynes’ daughter-in-law now?”

“What a miracle to see the mother and son here today,” Natalie said sarcastically.

Natalie wasn’t surprised to see Scarlet here. Since Scarlet had been getting along with Imogen, even if she wasn’t in a hurry, Imogen would urge her to persuade Rowan to get a divorce.

“Mom, what are you doing here?” Rowan asked, not expecting Scarlet’s arrival.

“How long do you plan to keep this from me if I don’t come here?” Scarlet tossed a stack of photos on the coffee table. “This woman has been hooking up with a guy out there. Why didn’t you tell me about such a serious matter?

“Our family will not accept such a shameless daughter-in-law. You two must get a divorce today.” Scarlet had even prepared the divorce agreement.

That man in the photos was Derrick, the father of Sarah’s classmate, whom Imogen had contacted previously. He was seen holding Natalie in the photos.

“Today, you two will sign this agreement in front of me. Then, you’ll have nothing to do with each other anymore,” Scarlet

said.

Natalie glanced at the content of the agreement. It was the same as before, requesting her to leave with nothing. The kids’ custody would go to the Payne family, and she wouldn’t even receive alimony.

“I can divorce Rowan, but I want the kids’ custody and 100 million dollars,” Natalie said deliberately to make things difficult for them.

Carmen’s friend from abroad still held a few copies of records on Rowan’s spending for Imogen, and Natalie hadn’t received them. If she were to go against them now, it wouldn’t do her any good. So she could only try to buy time.

“Natalie, do you think the Paynes’ money grows on trees?” Rowan snapped. “You’re asking for more and more!”

It was such a huge amount. The more he looked at Natalie, the more disgusted he felt.

However, 100 million dollars was nothing compared to the money Rowan had spent on Imogen.

“If you don’t give me the money, forget about divorcing,” Natalie replied, her voice cold.

“It’s clearly written on the contract that Rowan can divorce you after seven years. Who do you think you are? How dare you try to scam money out of us Paynes?” Scarlet bellowed.

“I didn’t want to make things hard for you, but I didn’t expect you to be so cruel and greedy.” Rowan sided with Scarlet.

Perhaps he had been with Imogen these days and had been listening to her, but just the sight of Natalie was enough to irritate him.

“I’m greedy, huh?” Natalie sneered. “Someone has made a mistake, yet he’s trying to act innocent. Isn’t that you, Rowan?”

Rowan had been enjoying his time with Imogen every day, yet he refused to pay Natalie as compensation. Besides, he even wanted her to serve his whole family for free. A jerk like him was beyond shameless.

Right then, Rowan slapped Natalie across the face.
