You Thought Cilantro Was Just a Flavor? It’s Actually My FU, Cheater! by Mark Twain 8

Chapter 8
It wasn’t until Whitney had liquidated every share of the company that Edward finally got it-
she was done with him. For good.
This wasn’t about some emotional affair anymore. A life had been lost.
Their child.
He’d honestly thought she was being dramatic.
Threatening divorce over cilantro in her breakfast?
Turns out he was the one who’d been blind the whole time.
He thought back to that morning before Paris. Making her breakfast like he always did.
And out of nowhere, Ruby’s face had popped into his head-those bright eyes, that shy smile when she looked at him.
He dropped his head into his hands.
The door opened.

Ruby walked in, all sweetness and light, looking at him like he was some kind of hero.
She moved closer. Gardenias-that’s what she always smelled like.
Nothing like Whitney. Whitney only ever wore citrus.
He stood up so fast his chair rolled back. Ruby flinched.
“Mr. Smith…”
She swallowed hard, then pushed forward.
“Since you and Whitney are splitting up anyway… would you maybe think about giving me a chance? I’ve had feelings for you since day one.”
Edward just stared.
Ruby took a breath, reached up, grabbed his tie, and tried to kiss him.
He shoved her away-hard.
She lost her balance and went down, hitting the floor. She looked up at him, stunned.
Edward collapsed back into his chair. His voice came out flat.
“Get out, Ruby.”
She blinked. “What?”
“You’re fired. HR will handle your severance.”

Ruby went from tears to screaming, but Edward had already checked out.
He’d known she had feelings for him. And he’d let it continue.
Liked the attention, the way she hung on his every word, how she made him feel important.
What a fucking idiot he’d been
He stared at the photo on his desk-him and Whitney from years back, both of them smiling-and the truth settled over him like concrete.
She’s never forgiving him.
