Cilantro Taste Novel Chapter 6

You Thought Cilantro Was Just a Flavor? It’s Actually My FU, Cheater! by Mark Twain 6

Chapter 6

Chapter 6

When I finished talking, Mom was sobbing.

She moved next to me and wrapped me in her arms.

“Whit, baby… I had no idea.”

She wiped her face.

“If this is what you want, I’m not going to stop you. I don’t want you divorced because I don’t care about you-I want you to have a partner, someone who’ll be there when your father and I are gone.

But if being with him means suffering? Then to hell with him.”

Dad-who almost never lost his temper-slammed his fist on the table.

“That son of a bitch-‘didn’t cross a line’? I’m a man. I know EXACTLY what he’s doing. You’re divorcing him, and that’s final. Your mother and I will take care of you for the rest of your life.”

I looked at them-graying, tired, but still so full of love for me-and everything I’d been holding back came pouring out.

I collapsed into Mom’s arms and cried harder than I had since I was a little girl.

The next day, I drove to headquarters.

They were throwing some company team-building thing.

The rec room was packed-music blasting, people playing games, the whole place buzzing.

A massive three-tier cake sat center stage.

Edward stood right next to it, and Ruby was practically draped over him in a low-cut dress, her chest pressed against his arm while she whispered in his ear.

He bent his head down, listening close.

They looked like a couple. The CEO and his girlfriend.

No one would’ve guessed he had a wife.

I took a photo and walked in.

People started nodding at me.

“Mrs. Smith.”

Polite enough, but their eyes were full of pity-or worse, amusement.

I didn’t acknowledge any of them.

I walked straight to that cake.

Edward and Ruby finally noticed me.

She jerked upright. He turned with that same easy smile.

“Whit, hey-I’m really glad you came. Listen, I think we should-”

Ruby screamed as I shoved the entire cake off the table.

Frosting exploded across the floor-white and pink smeared everywhere.

Every conversation died instantly.

Edward’s Italian leather shoes were covered in cream.

He stared at me like I’d lost my mind.

“Whitney! What the HELL?!”

I laughed and turned to face the room.

Every single person was watching. Good.

“I’d like to know how Mr. Smith enforces company policy with his assistant.”

I gestured at Ruby.

“We have a strict dress code. Professional attire only. Everyone here knows that.

Last year, you tore into an intern because her skirt was an inch too short.

But Ruby gets to show up in a casual sundress, hang all over you in front of the entire staff, and you don’t say a word? What makes her so special?”

Edward’s mouth pressed into a thin line.

His eyes flicked to Ruby’s outfit, then back to her face.

He let out a long breath.

“Fine. Her outfit’s inappropriate. But this”-he gestured at the ruined cake-“is completely out of line.”

I ignored him and stepped up to Ruby.

She shrank back, but I didn’t move.

“That post you made yesterday morning-was it public from the start? Or did you change it after I commented?”

She lowered her head and didn’t answer.

I walked past her, pulled the USB drive from my bag, and plugged it into the projector.

Dozens of screenshots lit up the screen-every single post Ruby had made over the last month.

Her face drained of color.

Edward looked genuinely confused.

“Apparently, I’m Ruby’s favorite person.

Chapter 6

Last month, while she and my husband were in Paris together, she made forty-five posts.

Every single one was set so only I could see it.”

I paused.

“This morning, she made another private post. Then, the second I commented on it, she switched it to public and ran to Edward so he could call me and accuse me of harassing her.”

I turned back to Ruby. My voice was ice.

“You’re obviously obsessed with my husband. So congratulations-you win. He’s all yours. Just make sure he signs the divorce papers, huh.”

Around the room, people were already pulling out their phones, checking Ruby’s profile.

The looks on their faces said everything.

I didn’t look at Ruby again. I turned to Edward.

“You’ve known me for ten years. You know I don’t lie. But the second she fed you some bullshit story, you believed her without question and

called to yell at your wife.”

I stepped closer.

“So yeah. Now you know why I’m divorcing you.”

I held his gaze. “Because you DISGUST me.”
