A Mix-up Made Me His Enemy’s Woman 21

Chapter 21

After leaving the company, Bethany went straight to a car dealership and purchased a BMW X3. It was a little embarrassing for her to admit, but she had bought it on a loan. Now that she was a department director, she didn’t think it was appropriate for her to commute by subway.

When Silas returned, he noticed an extra white car in the garage. “You bought a car?” he inquired.

Bethany nodded. Her heart still ached a little, as her purchase had nearly drained all her savings. “Yeah, I did.”

He cocked his brow. “There are several cars in my garage. You can drive whichever one you want.”

Her car was worth at most 60 thousand dollars. It felt a little too modest to him.

Bethany immediately shook her head. “Your cars are too expensive, Mr. Brennan.”

She had checked out his cars. Even the cheapest one started at a million dollars. It would draw too much attention if she were to drive them.

If she wanted to be taken seriously at work, especially at her age, she had to come across as composed and mature. Her car was part of that image.

Silas smiled. “Alright.”

He casually pulled out a small brocade box from his pocket. “Here, it’s our wedding ring.”

Bethany’s heart skipped a beat. She had almost forgotten that they were married.

She opened the box and found a dazzling diamond ring, shining brilliantly under the chandelier. At a glance, she could tell that it was worth a fortune.

She asked, “Isn’t this a bit too expensive? Maybe I should get a cheaper pair instead. I’m afraid I might lose it.”

Silas shrugged, gazing at her calmly. “We’ll just buy another one if you lose it. It’s just a ring, Mrs. Brennan. Your husband can afford it.”

He then fished out his wallet from his suit jacket and pulled out his credit card. The very next second, a black card was slid in

front of Bethany.

“Even though we’re in a marriage of convenience, I’ll take care of our household expenses. If there’s anything you want to buy–bags, clothes, or jewelry–just use this card. My bad, I forgot to give you this sooner. I’ll have Arthur wire you the money for the car.”

As soon as his words fell, Bethany’s phone buzzed. She hadn’t expected Silas to move so quickly. In the blink of an eye, he had somehow gotten hold of her bank details and wired five million dollars into it.

“That’s too much. My car only costs 56 thousand dollars. Besides, I can afford it.”

Silas smirked. “Keep it. I’m not like your stingy exes.”

ન

Bethany was at a loss for words.

Noah, who was working overtime in his office, suddenly sneezed.

“Alright. Thank you, Silas.” Bethany wasn’t in a position to turn down the money. If anything, she was short on it these days. “I think you’re right about the matching rings. Why don’t we head to the mall tomorrow and pick out a pair together?”
