A Mix-up Made Me His Enemy’s Woman 15

Chapter 15

Noah sneered inwardly. It was no wonder Bethany didn’t come looking for him.

So, she thought that she could ignore him just because she had the Brannons on her side? Dream on!

Noah suppressed his impatience and said apathetically, “I see. I have another meeting later, Ella. Be good and head home first. I’ll pick you up and take you out to dinner when I’m free.”

Ella pouted, feeling sullen. She wondered whether he was upset because Bethany was getting married.

However, she didn’t dare ask. So, she pursed her lips before responding, “Alright. Remember to come see me when you’re free, Noah!”

Noah walked her downstairs. The second he spun on his heel, his expression darkened, and he dialed Bethany’s number. To his disbelief, she had blocked his number.

His breathing quickened as he pulled up their chat log and sent her a single question mark. Almost immediately, he realized his message hadn’t been delivered.

He was so livid that he chuckled. “You’ve got some nerve, Bethany!” he seethed inwardly.

Noah’s expression remained dark as he sat through meetings all afternoon.

Noah couldn’t take it anymore and drove to Bethany’s apartment building at 9:00 pm.

He was well aware that she wouldn’t return to the Reid residence, as her relationship with her mother was strained. After leaving him, this was the only place she could come back to.

Suppressing his anger, Noah pressed the doorbell, but no one answered.

The neighbor from next door came out and took a look at him. “Young man, are you looking for the young lady in 605?”

Noah pursed his thin lips. “Yes.”

“She moved out a few days ago. I think she went to live with her boyfriend.”

The moment Noah heard the word “boyfriend“, his expression hardened. He went downstairs, borrowed a phone from a stranger, and finally got through to her.

He barked, “You’ve seriously outdone yourself, Bethany. Are you living at Cyrus‘ place now? What, you couldn’t even wait until the wedding?”

Bethany frowned and looked at the number on the screen. She hadn’t expected Noah to call her.

At that moment, she was in the bathroom, blow–drying her hair. “I don’t think that it’s any of your business, Mr. Vazquez.” “How is it none of my business? Do you really think this little game of yours works on me, Bethany?”

“You think I’m playing games with you?”

Noah scoffed. “I dare you to tell me this isn’t your way of getting a rise out of me. What, did you actually fall for that player?”

Cyrus‘ reputation was well known in their circle.

Bethany chuckled. “Who I fall for has nothing to do with you. If that’s all you wanted to talk about, I’m hanging up.”

Just then, a knock sounded at the door.

Silas stood outside. “Have you gone to bed, Beth?”

Nesah, who was on the other end of the line, exploded in anger. He thought that the man’s voice sounded oddly familiar. He couldn’t believe that she was living with that womanizer.

Noticing that the call was still connected, Bethany’s heart leaped, and she hurriedly hung up on Noah. She then opened the door, her hair still damp “What’s up?”

A small smile tugged on Silas‘ lips. “Would you like a late–night snack? Jane left some mac and cheese before she left.” Bethany glanced at the time and shook her head. “I’ve already washed up. I don’t want it. Thanks,”

He stared at her long and hard, his expression unreadable. “Oh, alright then. Good night.”

Earlier, while standing outside the ajar door, he thought that he heard her on the phone with another man. He figured that it was probably his archnemesis, Noah.
