A Mix-up Made Me His Enemy’s Woman 125
Chapter 125
The medical team Silas had flown in from overseas held a consultation that morning.
“At the moment, there is a chance that she will regain consciousness,” the doctor explained. We will start with medication to stimulate nerve recovery, followed by physical therapy and hyperbaric oxygen treatment.
“The next three months are the golden window. If she doesn’t wake up by then, the odds will drop significantly. We need the family to cooperate too. Talk to her often. Emotional stimulation can help wake her up.”

Bethany nodded repeatedly. It was much better than being told Sarah was in a permanent
vegetative state. If there was a direction to work toward, she would give it everything she had.
“Thank you. I appreciate your hard work,” she said.
Sarah was moved from the ICU to a special care unit. Visitors were only allowed for one hour a
day.
Silas accompanied Bethany to the ward. Bethany looked at the elderly woman. Sarah, who used to be so full of life, now lay there motionlessly. It left a bitter taste in Bethany’s mouth.
“Grandma, I’m here to see you.” Bethany grabbed Sarah’s hand as tears welled up in her eyes.
“You said you’d be with me for a long time. You can’t bail on me now. I haven’t even had my wedding yet. I still want you to be there for it. When you get better, you have to be there, okay?
But silence was her only answer.
Silas squeezed her shoulder softly. “There’s no rush. We can postpone the wedding. She’ll wake up within three months.”
Bethany froze. She had wanted to suggest that, but she hadn’t known how to bring it up to him. She hadn’t expected Silas to say it first.
She asked, “Are you really okay with postponing it?”
Silas smiled. “It’s not like we’re going to get divorced if I wasn’t okay with it. Relax. I’m willing to wait as long as it takes.”
He didn’t care about waiting a few months for the wedding ceremony.
When they left the room, Silas steered Bethany toward the outpatient surgical department.

“What are you doing?” Bethany asked in confusion.
Silas lifted her hand. “Did you get this injury when you used the whip?”
Bethany tried to pull her hand away out of guilt, but he held it tighter. “Stop hiding. Doctor, please bandage this wound for her.”
Bethany’s palm just had a friction burn. It wasn’t serious. She thought Silas was making a mountain out of a molehill.
“Her hands are soft,” Silas said. “We don’t want any scars.”
Bethany was speechless, as was the doctor. He was just trying to do his job, yet he had to deal with a couple showing off their affection right in front of him.
Bethany’s face burned. She hoped the doctor would finish bandaging her hand quickly. She wanted nothing more than to flee the scene.
Once they left the outpatient building, she walked faster and faster.
Silas caught up and grabbed her. “Why are you running?”
“Silas, can you stop making a scene? The doctor was trying so hard not to laugh that he was practically twitching!” Bethany said.
Silas didn’t care. “Twitching? Was he jealous because he doesn’t have a wife? Fine. I won’t say things like that again. Happy?”
Inside the car, Silas clicked his tongue again. “You still haven’t told me where you got the
whip.”
Bethany pressed her lips together. “I bought it online for self–defense a while ago. I just left it
in the car.”
She didn’t know where she got the courage that day to grab a whip and storm into the Reid
residence alone.
Silas took her hand and rubbed her palm. “Next time, don’t hurt yourself just to get back at them. But I am happy about one thing. I was the first person you thought of when you ran into trouble.”
Bethany paused, silently disagreeing.
She had only called him because Julian reminded her to.
“I know it’s an arranged marriage, but telling your partner when something happens is completely reasonable and necessary,” Silas continued. “The main reason I got mad before

was because you acted like I didn’t exist whenever something happened.”
He leaned in and pinched her nose affectionately. “Do you get it now?”

Bethany stayed silent. She instinctively leaned back to put some distance between them. “I get it. But don’t get so close.”
“Dad wants us to come home for dinner today,” Silas said.
“Okay,” replied Bethany.
As soon as they arrived at the Brennan residence, Evan badgered Bethany to go play in the garden with him.
