A Mix-up Made Me His Enemy’s Woman Novel Chapter 115

A Mix-up Made Me His Enemy’s Woman 115

Chapter 115

Bethany thought that it would be better if Silas were away on a business trip. That way, she wouldn’t have to face him at night.

Unfortunately, Evan paid no heed at all to Silas‘ warning.

After school, instead of going home obediently, he had the driver take him back to the building where Bethany worked.

But the person he was waiting for that day wasn’t Bethany—it was Nora, who looked uncannily like his mother.

It seemed as though fate itself was lending Evan a hand. At 4:00 pm, Nora planned to go to the bank and then head straight home from work.

“Mr. Chase, help me follow that lady!”

Dixon Chase hesitated. “Evan, it’s already getting late. You should be going home.”

“Oh, come on, just follow her. Otherwise, I’ll get out and chase her myself!”

With no other choice, Dixon stepped on the accelerator and followed the white car ahead.

Nora had no idea that she was being tailed. After chatting with the bank manager for half an hour, she got into her car and prepared to drive home, only to have a small child suddenly wrap his arms around her.

She was startled at first, then her eyes flickered. “Evan?”

“Ms. Nora!” Evan answered brightly.

Nora crouched and asked, “Why are you here? Where is your family?”

Her first thought was that Evan had gotten lost.

That thought, however, gave Evan an idea. He blinked mischievously and asked, “Ms. Nora, could you take me home? Or maybe you could call my dad and ask him to come pick me up?”

Nora glanced at the time. There was still plenty of time before her appointment with her boyfriend.

Smiling, she said, “Alright then. Shall we go sit in that cafe over there and wait?”

Evan nodded enthusiastically. “Okay!”

After ordering and placing the food in front of him, Nora asked, “Do you remember

your dad’s

phone number?”

“I do!” Evan recited it with ease.

Nora dialed Julian’s number, and a low, cool voice came through the receiver. “Hello.”

“Hello. Is this Evan’s father? Your son got separated from his driver. We’re currently at the cafe on Orchid Road. Could you come pick him up?”

There was a brief pause on the other end of the line.

A few seconds later, Julian replied evenly, “Alright. I’ll be there right away. Thank you for your help, Miss…”

“Ms. Ashford.”

After the call ended, Evan looked at Nora nervously. “What did my dad say?”

Seeing how frightened the child was of his father, Nora gently patted his head. “Don’t be scared. Your dad isn’t angry. Go on. Eat your fries. I’ll get you some ketchup.”

Evan shook his head. “No need. I don’t like dipping fries in sauce.”

Nora was taken aback. Few children disliked ketchup, and she hadn’t expected such an odd

coincidence between them.

She didn’t dip her fries in sauce either.

After hanging up, Julian stood and put on his coat. His assistant looked puzzled. “Mr. Brennan, the Commerce Bureau is scheduled to come by later.”

“Yes. Please send them my apologies. Something came up with my son today, and I need to

head back.”

Julian drove to the location himself.

That voice on the phone just now…

He had no time to dwell on it. After calling Dixon, he confirmed that Evan had indeed gone

missing.

Once he parked and entered the cafe, his eyes scanned the crowd. At last, he spotted Evan’s back near the children’s play area.

Just as he was about to walk over, he noticed the woman seated across from him, her curled hair spilling over her shoulders.

Those familiar brows and eyes–so familiar that even after all these years, they were still

etched deep in his memory.

Julian’s Adam’s apple bobbed as he quietly approached. He overheard Nora gently saying, ” Evan, you can’t eat any more. If you eat too much, you’ll get indigestion tonight.”

As if sensing his burning gaze, Nora looked up. Her eyes met Julian’s directly.

She froze for a moment, then smiled. “Hello. Are you Mr. Brennan?”

Julian’s expression grew complicated.

Mr. Brennan?
