A Mix-up Made Me His Enemy’s Woman 110
Chapter 110
Inside the elevator, Bethany reacted swiftly and pressed the door–open button.
She raised an eyebrow. “Ms. Ashford, you’re just getting off work as well?”
Nora smiled gently. “Yes. It’s my first day, so I spent some time getting familiar with the company’s workflow and ended up leaving a little later.”
Bethany struck up a casual conversation and asked, “Did you drive?”
“No. I’ve only just returned and still need to retake the driver’s license exam.‘
Bethany nodded, and fortunately, they soon reached the first floor.
“Then I’ll be heading off now. See you tomorrow,” Bethany said.
Nora replied calmly, “See you tomorrow.”
Bethany noticed a Bentley parked at the entrance and realized that Evan was actually waiting for her outside.
She jogged over and gently pinched his earlobe. “Why did you wait in the car?”
“Aunt Betty, I just couldn’t wait.”
“Perfect. Then we can just walk over.”
Holding Evan’s hand, Bethany took him to a shop she had visited with him several times before and bought three hair clips at once.
“Evan, you don’t have to give them all at once. You can give them one by one.”
Even replied magnanimously, “Why? Aunt Betty, Uncle Silas said that if you’re too stingy, you’ll never get a partner.”
Bethany massaged her temples, unsure of what Silas had been teaching the child.
With a wry smile, she said, “Alright. Then, just listen to your uncle.”
After drinking a lot of water in the car, Evan suddenly grew listless. “Aunt Betty, I need to use
the bathroom.”
Seeing Evan’s flushed face, Bethany took him to the restroom. “Can you head in by yourself?”
After all, Evan was already six years old, and it wouldn’t be appropriate for him to accompany
her into the women’s restroom.

Evan puffed out his chest confidently. “Of course!”
Bethany turned away and answered a work call.
When Evan came out, he saw Bethany’s back. Just as he was about to run toward her, he suddenly saw a figure flashing by him.
Evan chased after the person, shouting, “Mom!”
Bethany had just ended the call when she saw Evan running past her. She exclaimed, “Evan, I’m right here!”
But Evan seemed not to hear her at all, and she hurried after him.
Evan finally grabbed the hem of the woman’s coat and hurriedly called out, “Mom!”
The woman turned around in surprise. “Young man, have you mistaken me for someone else?”
Tears filled Evan’s eyes. “No, I haven’t! You’re my mom. I could never be wrong! Mom, don’t you remember me? I’m Evan!”
The woman lowered her gaze, her expression complicated, as if searching her memory—yet her mind remained blank about the boy before her.
She shook her head, her smile faint. “You’ve mistaken me for someone else. I’m not your mother. I’m still single, not married, and I’ve never had a child.”
“Evan…” Wearing high heels, Bethany finally caught up. She looked at the two in confusion. ”
Ms. Ashford?”
Nora was equally taken aback. “Ms. Porter? Is this… your child?”
Bethany noticed that Evan was still gripping Nora’s clothes tightly. She gently patted his head and said, “Evan, that’s impolite. Let go. Behave.”
But the usually obedient Evan shook his head stubbornly. “Aunt Betty, she’s my mom! I can’t
If I do, she’ll run away!”

Bethany raised her eyebrows and studied Nora, hesitating slightly. “You…
“I’m sorry, Ms. Porter. I truly don’t know this boy. Perhaps I simply resemble his mother.”
Bethany quickly apologized. “I’m very sorry. He’s normally well–behaved. I don’t know what’s come over him today.”
Nora didn’t seem to mind. “I have a reservation at this restaurant. If you’re free, would you like to join me for dinner?”

Bethany instinctively wanted to decline, but seeing the child’s pleading eyes, she could only agree reluctantly. “Alright then. I’m sorry for troubling you after work today.”
