Chapter 5
My soul hovered in mid-air. I watched from above as everyone in the doorway froze.
Oscar stumbled over, almost falling as he lunged toward me. His hands quaked as he tried to stem the blood from my bleeding wrist.
His face had gone deathly pale. His words were a strained, broken plea as he choked out, “Carol… Please don’t scare me like this… A doctor! We need a doctor now!”
The wound on his leg tore open from the sudden strain, yet he seemed unaware of the pain. Instead, he stared at Martin with a look of utter desperation.
Then, Martin finally came to, his voice shredded with panic as he shouted at housekeepers in the hallway. “Get the family doctor up here now! He has to stop Carol’s bleeding!”
The doctor stumbled in. He wrapped a thick gauze around my wrist, yet the blood soaked through almost immediately.
At that, sweat beaded on the doctor’s forehead. He reached out and felt for a pulse at my neck, hesitating before he said, “Mr. Bergling, I’m afraid she’s…”
Martin’s eyes were bloodshot. He couldn’t bear to look at the wound and fixed his stare on the doctor instead. “Silence! Get the car ready! We’re going to the hospital right now!” he roared.
Meanwhile, Albus stood frozen in shock. His eyes were locked on the glaring crimson spreading across my wrist.
Suddenly, his legs gave way, and he dropped to the floor.
“It wasn’t an act… Carol… she wasn’t faking it…” he muttered, repeating the phrase over and over again.
Nathan, on the other hand, trailed at the back. His usual calm composure fractured the moment he took in the scene inside
the room.
Panic flashed through Eveline’s eyes. She broke into tears as she stumbled into the room. “Carol… how could it come to this? It’s all my fault. If only I’d explained things to you sooner, none of this would have…” she sobbed as she moved toward the
bed.
Yet, Oscar was faster. He seized her by the throat and shouted, “Eveline, you vowed that if we followed your plan, Carol would stay! You said that if we sided with you and shut her out, she would fail her so-called mission and have no choice but to stay. Look at her now. You did this to her!”
He roared like a beast, tightening his grip again and again.
Eveline’s face flushed red as she struggled. Her legs kicked weakly as she gasped for air.
It was then that the room descended into chaos.
Crying and shouting came together as one.
I couldn’t be bothered to think about what Oscar meant. I was just frustrated.
After going through all that to die, why couldn’t I leave yet? As soon as I’m out of here, I’m filing a formal complaint against this glitchy system!
Just as I was mulling it over, the system’s familiar alert finally sounded.
“Main storyline mission confirmed complete. The reward has been transferred to the host’s designated account. Host’s physical death confirmed. Initiating dimensional transfer channel now!”
I breathed a sigh of relief. At last, I didn’t have to stay here and watch these people any longer.
“Favorability level with the Bergling brothers confirmed at 100%! Favorability level with the male lead, Nathan, confirmed. at 100%!

“Hidden mission cleared! Congratulations! Host’s terminal bone cancer will now be cured!”
For a moment, I was stunned. Then came a surge of overwhelming joy.
Everything went dark, and I felt a sudden, forceful tug on my soul.
As the noise around me dimmed, I turned toward the frantic figures below and warmly said, “Thanks for everything. I won’t be seeing you again!”
When I opened my eyes again, I was lying on a familiar hospital bed.
Sunlight streamed in and spilled across the blanket. I felt lighter than ever before.
Squinting, I enjoyed the warmth when the ward door was suddenly open. Several doctors rushed in with strange expressions.
“Ms. Bergling, we’re very sorry… It appears there was a misdiagnosis earlier. Your latest test results show that you do not have cancer. Congratulations.”
At that moment, the calm I had been forcing myself to maintain shattered completely. I covered my face and broke down in heart-wrenching sobs.
The doctors were startled by my sudden reaction, but I no longer cared.
I did not have cancer and didn’t have to die. I escaped from that world where everyone despised me.
Now, I’ve got a fresh start and a whole new life ahead.
After what felt like hours of weeping, I finally quieted, my words thick with tears and strain. “Thank you all. This is wonderful news.’
“I
