Save Your Pleas: I’m With Your Best Friend Now Novel Chapter 31

Chapter 31

“Hold your horses now. Tell me what happened, but slower,” Juliet said, a little stunned. She then asked, “How’s the keyboard?”

“Shit,” Ariane cussed before saying, “I used my 500-dollar keyboard to hit him!”

Juliet chuckled. “Let’s meet up. I was just thinking about taking a stroll and having a change of scenery.”

Juliet and Ariana agreed to meet one another in a restaurant in a nearby mall.

Juliet washed up and put on some makeup, as if she were still the beautiful and elegant Mrs.

Greene she used to be.

When Juliet reached the mall, she looked down at her phone to check the texts Ariane had sent her. She didn’t notice someone walking in front of her and bumped into them right away.

“Crap! What kind of blind ass motherf-” The person cussed.

Juliet raised her head to look at them. But the moment she saw who it was, the apologetic look on her face froze.

The man wore a heavy coat with a large designer brand logo stamped on the front. He had a thick gold chain on his neck and a gold watch on his wrist. He was quite noticeable here amidst the public crowd.

It was Juliet’s friend from high school, Caleb Sander.

When Caleb saw that it was Juliet, a teasing expression appeared on his face. “Oh? Isn’t this Mrs. Greene?”

His eyes roamed along her body, gaze filled with disdain. “Are you out shopping alone? Mr. Greene’s not joining you?”

Juliet ignored him, choosing to sidestep him instead.

But Caleb extended a hand to block her way. “Hey, c’mon now. We’re old schoolmates, aren’t we? I’m sure we can exchange some pleasantries.”

The smile on Caleb’s face grew even more brazen,

“I heard you’re trying to divorce Asher,” he said.

Juliet’s footsteps halted.

She gazed coldly at Caleb and said, “Move aside.”

“Feisty, aren’t we?” Caleb commented. He then clicked his tongue and took a step closer to Juliet instead of moving aside.

“You were so good at pretending back in school. You always acted so high and mighty, ignoring anyone who might want to talk to you. I heard that Asher is spending all his time with the daughter of his precious mentor nowadays.”

“This is a private matter between Asher and me, Caleb. It’s none of your business,” Juliet

retorted.

“Aw, but I’m just concerned about you, old friend.”

Caleb reached out to pat Juliet on the shoulder, but she swiftly swatted his hand away.

Instead of getting upset, Caleb chuckled loudly in response.

“Your dream of living a life of luxury must be ruined now, huh? I knew the two of you wouldn’t last long! A housekeeper’s daughter who managed to climb to the top, only to

flat on her ass in the end.”

Juliet’s fingers curled slightly. “I’m busy, so I need to go…”

Caleb snorted. “Hmph! You’re still playing pretend? Do you really think you’re still that h and mighty Mrs. Greene you wanted to be? Asher Greene is fed up with you now, so why a you still keeping up that proud act? What’s a golddigger like you acting all virtuous for?”

Caleb then took out his namecard and handed it to Juliet.

“Name your price to stay by my side. I can’t promise much, but I can definitely buy you all the luxury handbags you want,” he said.

He then reached out to try to lift Juliet’s face by the chin.

Juliet smacked his hand away and took a step back, her eyes cold as ice. “Don’t touch me!”

“What a wildcat you are.” Caleb retracted his hand and sniffed it. “You smell delectable. No wonder Asher married you in the first place. You were in it for the money, weren’t you? Does it matter who’s giving you that money?”

Juliet’s expression immediately turned ugly. A bitter taste welled up in her throat.

Caleb had stopped her in the hallway in school back in sophomore year, just like he did now. He’d said some lecherous things and even tried to put his hands on her.

Juliet had warned him to back off, but Caleb only got even bolder.

In the end, it was Asher who saw Caleb harassing Juliet.

Asher had wordlessly grabbed Caleb by the collar and punched the latter in the face. He then rained a flurry of punches onto Caleb.

“If I see you touching Juliet again, I’ll snap your leg in two,” Asher said warningly.

Juliet had been standing behind Asher at the time. As she watched his tall, broad figure from behind, she felt like he was the most reliable person in the whole wide world.
