“Since you’ve made your choice to leave, then do it. I have a secret stash of savings here in my accounts totaling up to 50 thousand dollars. I’ve saved it for you all this time. It’ll last you a decent while if you spend it wisely. These old bones can still work. I’ll find another
housekeeping job after heading back,” Jolene said.
Juliet’s tears fell without warning.
Very few people had thought that her decision to give up on Asher and that life of luxury was a good one.
The sudden feeling of being understood soothed Juliet’s wounded heart. She dove into Jolene’s chest and burst into tears.
After consoling Juliet, Jolene went to cook them both a meal.
Juliet then recalled the matter of the bank card.
“Mom, Asher transferred 1.5 million dollars to that bank card ending in 0817. Is it with you right now?” Juliet asked.
Jolene frantically set her pan down. “What? Oh no! Your father is using that card! He even linked his phone number to that account. He must’ve found out about the cash by now. Damn that old geezer for not saying anything!”
Juliet sighed. There was no way she could get that money back now that her father had it.
“I’ll go to the bank later to see if I can report it missing and get the money back,” Juliet said.
Her only concern right now was whether James had used that card.
A curious expression appeared on Jolene’s face. “Was the money transfer recent? If Asher gave
that money, does that mean he doesn’t want to go through with the divorce?”

Juliet hummed in assent. “Asher has been refusing to sign our divorce papers. But I really can’t bear to stay with him anymore. I feel awful every time I see him tending to Evangeline’s needs.
“Asher is a handsome man, just like your father. They have women hot on their heels even though they’re married,” Jolene commented. She then said, “Why don’t you just remain as Mrs. Greene? That way, you can use Asher’s money and body for your own needs.”
Juliet was left speechless. She suddenly felt like her mother was making a lot of sense.

But after being slapped hard in the face by reality for the past few days, Juliet just wanted to retain any sense of dignity she had left. So, she shook her head.
“I have to get back to work now. I’ll hold off your father and the rest of the Stones,” Jolene
said.
She then sighed and added, “James and Asher spoiled them too much. You don’t need to do the same. Just let me know if they come to trouble you again. At most, I’ll just divorce your
father.”
“Huh?” Juliet exclaimed. “How can you sleep with Dad if you divorce him?”
Jolene winked playfully. “James is getting old. Handsome as he is, I’m a bit tired of seeing that same old face in my bed every time. I’ve learned quite a bit from those online love gurus. Once James has spent all his money, all I need to do is wave a little cash in his face for him to behave.
Juliet exclaimed in shock several times. Jolene had truly upturned Juliet’s worldview today.
Who would’ve thought that someone as young as Juliet would end up being more conservative than her 40-something-year-old mother?
“What are you gawking at? When you’re rich and have learned to be careful with your money, you’ll have tons of handsome young men flocking to you. Back when James wasn’t working for the Greene family, he’d always ‘service’ me well every time I went back home,” Jolene said.
She then looked at the time and said, “Alright, I’ll be off now. I’ll come over tomorrow to drop off some food for you.”
Juliet gazed at her mother, who was still in pretty good shape, given her age.
She strongly suspected that Jolene had already experienced being flirted with by other
handsome men.
“How much money can your pride bring you? You’re better off getting more cash from the divorce. Once you leave Asher and start a new life with your baby, you can find a new man to
be with.”
Juliet suddenly realized that men like James would never need to worry about not having any money to spend-not as long as they were bold enough to make a move, anyway.
It was true that James was a kept man, yet all his family members held him to high regard because of this quality of his.
