Chapter 11
Juliet had run off without any hesitation, and it stung Zachary deeply.
He had come second to Asher so many times, or had been completely neglected. It was a grudge that burned deep in his heart and had never been resolved.
On that day, Zachary made a loss in the stock market for the fifth time.
His father’s whip lashed his back again and again, causing him intense pain.
“When are you going to be able to beat the Sullivans’ son?”
Tristan Sullivan was Zachary’s stepbrother. They shared a mother, and Tristan was three years younger than Zachary. However, he was already a famous prodigy in medicine.
A patent for a new drug had earned the Sullivans billions, whilst Zachary’s profits in the stock market were only approximately 30 million.
He curled up on the floor, clenching his teeth stubbornly without making a sound.
He only went back to school the next afternoon.
During gym class, Juliet pulled him away from the crowd anxiously.
They went to an empty classroom, where she made him take off his shirt. When she saw the wounds that crisscrossed his back, her eyes reddened at once.
She did not say anything. She merely took out cotton buds and antiseptic and carefully applied
it for him.
Her fingers were warm, and it made him shiver slightly when she touched his skin. Zachary jumped in pain.
“Does it hurt?” She stopped at once and blew gently on his wound. “I’ll be gentler.”
Her breath seemed to soothe his heart, tickling him like a feather.
After that, Juliet brought him food every day and talked to him to keep him company. She would even tell clumsy jokes. She was the one who healed every single wound on his body and
his heart.
After that, he became a prodigy that everyone in the Wilson family was proud of, and he was
undefeated in the stock market.
His father never laid a hand on him again.

However, Zachary no longer had any reason to make Juliet keep him company alone.
The worry in her eyes when she looked at him gradually turned to admiration and respect. She looked at him as if he were an invincible god.
Occasionally, he would pretend to cough in front of her and say that his head ached. That was the only time she tore her eyes away from Asher long enough to show him some concern.
The image in his mind changed to that of a grand, lavish wedding.
Zachary stood next to Asher in a groomsmen’s suit.
The woman that he had loved for more than a decade was wearing a wedding gown and holding on to her father’s arm as she walked down the red carpet to Asher.
Zachary went onstage and gave a speech of well-wishes that he had prepared in advance. Everyone laughed, but he felt as if his heart had been plunged into an icy abyss. Every blessing that the couple received felt like a stab in the heart.
When Juliet said “I do”, Zachary used all the restraint he had to stop himself from stepping

For the 999th time, he told himself that it didn’t matter as long as she was happy.
He could endure it. However, the person that he had cherished like a priceless treasure had been neglected and hurt by someone else!
Zachary pulled himself out of his memories. There was a dark look in his eyes.
He had been planning to continue carving her smile to make it look more life-like, the way was in his memories.

However, jealousy and defiance seemed to wrap themselves around his fingers like vines, and it made his hands tremble uncontrollably.
The carving knife fell from his hand.
The sharp blade left a deep wound on the back of his hand, which looked very pale. It was so deep that he could see the bone.
Blood gushed out of it at once.
However, Zachary did not seem to feel any pain. “Will you still look at my wounds now?”
He looked quietly at the vicious wound.
Blood dripped between his fingers and stained the hem of the skirt on the wooden sculpture. It

was a dark red, and it looked like a crimson flower.
A hoarse, suppressed laugh bubbled up in his throat.
It seemed to echo in the empty studio, and it sounded perversely wild.
“My little sun…”
Zachary stretched out his uninjured right hand and gently caressed the cheek of the wooden sculpture. There was great longing in his movements, and he was being unnervingly gentle, but there was a sense of possessiveness to him.
“You’ll be mine one day. My name will be listed as your spouse.”
He pressed his thin lips on the sculpture’s ice-cold lips, warming them. “You’ll be buried with me forever.”
