I Cancel the Engagement and Level Way Up Chapter 46

Chapter 46

Logan slammed hard on the brakes.

Sloane lurched forward when the car stopped, then was yanked violently back into her seat by

the seatbelt.

Her mind was in a complete daze as the fruit in her hands scattered all over the floor. Instinctively, she immediately protected her stomach.

Seated in the back, Diana was startled by the sudden movement as well “What happened?”

Logan said nothing as he reached for the phone he’d left on the center console earlier, his expression dark.

When Sloane had been feeding Logan fruit just now, she’d caught a glimpse of Vivian sitting in a car with a man. However, she just wasn’t certain.

She said, “Logan, that person just now…”

When she saw his reaction, she instantly understood. “That was Vivian, wasn’t it?”

Logan didn’t respond, phone in hand. He dialed Vivian’s number while he still steered the car with one hand, making a sharp turn to chase after the other car.

In the other car, Vivian had felt nauseated for a while after what she’d seen earlier and didn’t want to look out the window again. She turned her head to watch Kingston play his game

instead.

However, she witnessed the man’s utterly painful–to–watch gameplay, and she couldn’t help

clicking her tongue.

Despite his earphones, Kingston seemed to hear the sound and looked up.

Their eyes met.

Vivian hadn’t had the time to wipe the look of disdain from her face before she was caught red

-handed.

Kingston said, “You think you’re that good?”

Vivian smiled, “I wouldn’t say I’m that good.”

She tried to be a bit modest, then felt like she shouldn’t undersell herself too much and added softly, “But, I’m probably a little better than you.”

After all, Kingston seemed to be frighteningly capable of embarrassing her. She still remembered the last time she’d boldly bragged, only for her to fail shortly after.

Kingston looked at her without saying a word.

The silence lasted only a moment before Vivian’s phone suddenly rang. She hurriedly picked it up and glanced at the screen. When she saw Logan’s name, she immediately pressed the

volume key and set her phone to silent.

There was a flash of annoyance in Vivian’s eyes. All she felt was irritation.

Logan must have seen her just now.

As she was thinking about how to deal with it, another phone suddenly appeared in her hand.

Kingston said, “Let me see exactly how much ‘a little better‘ really is.”

Kingston looked at her with open skepticism, instantly igniting her competitive spirit.

When her in–game character respawned, Vivican no longer had the time to care about Logan’s

call and focused on the game.

They were at a disadvantage, so she had to be fully concentrated. She was afraid that a single mistake would let the enemy win.

The driver noticed a car following closely behind them and glanced at the rearview mirror.

Mr. Howard…”

Kingston replied, “Lose him.”

“Got it!” Vivian answered before the driver could, deftly maneuvering her character to evade the enemy’s pursuit.

Kingston watched her play and raised an eyebrow slightly. The corner of his lips curved into a faint, almost imperceptible smile.

The driver caught sight of this through the rearview mirror and smiled as well. Then, he silently accelerated and shook off the car behind them.

When he saw the car ahead speed up, Logan accelerated too, running several red lights in a

row.

Sloane clutched her seatbelt tightly in terror. The tension caused a dull, aching pain in her abdomen.

Already showing signs of a threatened miscarriage, her face was now deathly pale. “Logan, my stomach…”

“Shut up!” Logan snapped, irritated beyond belief.

If he hadn’t been mistaken earlier, the man sitting beside Vivian was Kingston Howard.

How did she know Kingston?

And why was she refusing to answer his calls?

Logan felt a deep sense of rage, as if everything was slipping completely out of his control.

He stomped on the accelerator again and again. Just as he was about to catch up, the other car suddenly turned, veering off to a side road.

He turned around to follow, but the car ahead had already vanished without a trace.
