“Mom…” Before Logan could even finish the sentence, the bedroom door was flung open.
Vivian reached out and snatched Logan’s phone, pressing the speaker button.
Diana said, “Logan, where are you? Slo…”
Logan panicked, but he reacted quickly enough. “Mom, hang on for a moment. Let me explain things to Vivian, and I’ll be right there.”
Hearing Logan’s voice, Diana realized that Vivian was right beside him. She immediately swallowed the words that she had been about to say.
The call timer kept ticking, and an eerie silence came from Diana’s end.
Then the call was abruptly cut off.
Logan took the phone back from Vivian’s hand, looked at her, and said with an earnest expression, “Vivian, something’s happened at home. I need to go back.”
Vivian replied, “I’ll go with you.”
Logan froze, and a flicker of panic flashed through his eyes.
For a moment, he couldn’t find a reason to refuse her.
“You…”
Vivian curled her lips slightly as she looked at his guilty expression. Then, she sneered. “What, you don’t want to take me with you?”

Vivian stepped toward the door.
Logan was still standing where he was, thinking about how to deal with the situation.
When Vivian reached the center of the living room, she turned to look at him. “Aren’t you in a hurry? Why are you still standing there?”

Logan took two more steps forward, only turning back when he realized Vivian was standing

A smile appeared on Vivian’s face. One hand was resting on the iron gate, while her gaze was chilling. “Look at you, so scared that you’re breaking into a sweat. Are you really that afraid of me going with you?”
Logan raised a hand to wipe his forehead, but he didn’t feel a single drop of sweat. Coming back to his senses, he hid the panic in his eyes. “Vivian, that’s not what I meant.”
Vivian smiled indifferently. “My time is far too valuable. Why would I waste it on you people?”
With that, she slammed the gate shut.
The dull, heavy sound of the iron gate closing struck Logan’s heart like a hard blow. He stood there, stunned. An inexplicable sense of panic rose in him as he hurried forward. “Vivi…”
His phone rang again, and Logan frowned as he answered it. His voice was laced with irritation and impatience. “If you’re not feeling well, go see a doctor. I’m not a doctor!”
Diana’s flustered voice came from the other end. “Logan, Sloane’s bleeding. I’ve called an ambulance. Get to the hospital now.
Logan fell silent.
In the end, he chose to go to the hospital.
A life was at stake, after all.
