Chapter 33
Sloane lightly bit her lip. When she saw Diana come into the kitchen and quietly wipe away tears by the sink, Sloane walked over.
She comforted Diana in a low voice, “Mrs. Whitfield, don’t be angry. Logan also has his profits to think about. Vivian and Logan founded the Whitfield Group. If they were to split, it would definitely have a certain impact on the company.
“And if Vivian breaks up with Logan, she would surely take a huge amount of money with her. If that happens, the company’s operations would run into problems.”
Sloane’s words managed to calm Diana down.
Diana asked, “Didn’t she already leave the company?”
Diana had thought that once Vivian left the company, Whitfield Group would be owned by Logan alone.
Sloane patiently explained everything to Diana, including some of the legal divisions of assets involved.
Diana’s face paled. “She’s just a woman who’s benefiting from Logan’s success. Logan is the one running everything in the company. What right does she have to take so much money?”
Sloane smiled faintly and said in a helpless tone, “That’s just how the law works. Unless she commits a serious mistake that affects the company, Logan has no way of bypassing her. There’s really nothing that can be done.”
Diana remained silent. Her expression was full of anger and displeasure.
Sloane glanced at Diana and said in a gossip–like tone, “There was a couple before who went through a divorce lawsuit. The other party’s lawyer discovered that the woman had an affair and released the news. In the end, the woman had to compromise and give up on the assets.”
Diana replied, “Vivian would never betray Logan.”
Diana might not like Vivian, but she still understood how Vivian treated relationships.
Vivian would never do anything that betrayed Logán.
A flicker of displeasure flashed through Sloane’s eyes. She suppressed it and said with a smile, “When I read the news later, I heard that the man had actually framed the woman. He’d deliberately caused misunderstandings to force the woman to give up on the assets.‘

Diana remained silent as she fell deep in thought.
With a gentle smile, Sloane said obediently, “Mrs. Whitmore, I’m already very happy that Logan’s willing to let me give birth to the child. It’s just a pity that the child probably won’t be able to call you Grandma in the future because of Vivian.
“Since Logan has to protect his profits and can’t separate from Vivian, the child and I can only make do and endure it. Please don’t be angry, and don’t let this cause a rift between you and Logan.”
Diana nodded, her mind still lost in contemplation.
Satisfied, Sloane carried the breakfast she had prepared for Logan out of the kitchen.
Logan sat down at the dining table. When he saw the plain–looking food on the table, he instantly lost his appetite..
The food Vivian had cooked that morning had been rich in color, aroma, and flavor. Even though he hadn’t eaten them, the fragrance still seemed to linger in his nose.
He took a few perfunctory bites, then went back to the bedroom and lay down again.
When Diana brought water and medicine in, he was irritably scrolling through the chat history between himself and Vivian on his phone.
The chat log showed that for the past half month, he’d been the only one sending messages. Vivian had never replied.
Logan swallowed the medicine and lay back on the bed.
When he saw that Diana was about to leave, he quickly called out to her. “Mom, Vivian and I are about to have our wedding. As my mother, you have to play a role. Take Vivian to a jewelry shop and get all the wedding jewelry ready.”
As he spoke, Logan pulled a card from his wallet and handed it to Diana. “Vivian has been at odds with me lately. Help me comfort her a bit.”
He knew that ever since Vivian’s mother passed away, she had longed for maternal affection. In fact, Vivian even regretted the fact that she didn’t get along with Diana.
If Diana stepped in, Vivian would probably stop being angry with him.
