“Speak,” Logan said harshly.

There was a long pause on the other end before Sloane tentatively said, “Logan, she came to my place.”

Logan’s expression darkened. “Who?”

Sloane answered softly, “Your mother.”

Logan’s expression turned grim, and a surge of irritation rose inside him.

By the time Vivian finished cleaning up the kitchen and came out, Logan had already left.

She changed into a business suit and headed straight for the Edgewell Group’s headquarters.

She was going to recreate another Whitfield Group in Durmont and strip Logan of all his

resources.

With only nine days left, she had to act quickly.

Logan arrived at Sloane’s place seething with anger, but the moment he walked in, he saw his mother, Diana Lloyd. She was chatting and laughing with Sloane in the kitchen as they prepared lunch together.

The two of them looked as though they had known each other for years. They seemed very close and at ease with each other, with endless things to talk about.

There was even a rare smile on Diana’s face.

It was a relaxed, gentle expression that she never showed when she was with Vivian.

Logan’s anger dissipated greatly. “Mom, what are you doing here?”

“What? I can’t go to Vivian’s place, so I can’t come to Sloane’s either?” Diana said.

When she turned around and saw how haggard and sickly Logan looked, she quickly put down what she was doing and walked over. “How did you end up like this?”

Sloane followed right behind Diana, reaching out to check his forehead, her expression full of worry. “You were perfectly fine when you left my place last night. How did fever?”
