I Cancel the Engagement and Level Way Up Chapter 29

Chapter 29

Logan took a deep breath before forcing himself to remain patient and spoke softly. “Vivi, stop being angry. Open the door.”

Vivian didn’t respond.

He continued coaxing her gently, but the room remained silent.

After a few minutes, Logan’s patience ran out. “Aren’t you worried I’ll wake Eleanor?”

Finally, a voice came from behind the door.

“Then, wake her.”

She actually hoped Eleanor would be woken up by his noise.

Logan was frustrated but didn’t dare raise his voice. Though Eleanor seemed fond of him, she would never take his side. Even if he woke her, she’d only scold him for upsetting her precious granddaughter.

Years ago,

he and Vivian had fought over the company’s direction. They also clashed over issues with Diana, and it almost led to a breakup.

In a fit of anger, Vivian moved back to Eleanor’s house. Logan tried for ages to win her back, without success, so he turned to her grandmother for help.

But that day, the usually kind and gentle Eleanor put on a stern expression. She stated plainly that Vivian was only dating him and that she wasn’t yet married into the Whitfield family.

If Vivian wanted to break up, move out, or go anywhere, it had nothing to do with him. Eleanor didn’t try to mediate, and in fact, she supported every decision Vivian made.

In the end, Logan was the one who had to give in. The company followed Vivian’s plan, and Diana, not wanting to make things difficult for him, went back to their hometown in the countryside.

Logan stood outside Vivian’s bedroom door for half an hour, speaking softly and trying to soothe her. But inside, she remained completely unmoved.

He had no choice but to give up and lie down on the living room couch. It was worn, narrow,

and uncomfortable.

It even rained in the middle of the night. Curling up on the couch, he spent the entire night freezing and ended up catching a cold.

When Vivian got up in the morning, Logan was still lying on the couch. He looked weak, cheeks flushed with fever.

Seeing her, a spark of hope lit his eyes. He coughed weakly, trying to appear strong.

In the past, she couldn’t stand seeing him sick or suffering. She would always rush to his side immediately to care for him. But that day, she just glanced at him once, then turned and walked into the kitchen.

The hope in his eyes dimmed. He reassured himself that she was probably just boiling water or getting his medicine.

Logan waited patiently for ten minutes. Finally, Vivian returned carrying a steaming bowl of oatmeal.

His heart warmed instantly, and he felt that she did care about him after all. She knew he hadn’t eaten the night before, so she made breakfast to fill his stomach first.

He pushed his weak body up from the couch, only to watch her pull out a chair, sit down, and start eating by herself.

His face fell, and he sat there in a daze. “You didn’t make any for me?”

Vivian lifted her eyes lazily, as if just noticing him, shook her head, and said bluntly, “No.”

Logan’s expression sank.

She ignored him and continued eating.

He walked over with a cold expression, pulled out the chair across from her, and sat down. His voice was icy as he said, “Save some for me.”

Vivian looked at him and immediately lost her appetite. She set down her utensils.

Logan reached for the bowl, but she was quicker, lifting it and dumping the contents into the nearby trash can.

She said, “Sorry. I don’t really like sharing my food with anyone.”

And she certainly didn’t like sharing a man.
