I Cancel the Engagement and Level Way Up Chapter 25

Chapter 25

Logan walked over and wrapped his arms around Vivian’s waist from behind. Her body stiffened, and she frowned.

“What are you doing here?” she asked coldly, pulling away from his embrace.

His expression darkened. He lowered his voice and was mindful not to disturb Eleanor.

“Am I not allowed to come?”

Vivian took in his cautious look and let out a dry laugh.

Logan’s face hardened as he cut straight to the point.

“You had the villa renovated without telling me. We’re about to get married. When relatives come for the wedding, where are they supposed to stay?” he asked impatiently.

He’d gone back to the villa earlier that day. Seeing the renovation underway, he’d asked the workers and learned that the owner had ordered it.

When Vivian realized Logan still hadn’t figured out she’d sold the villa, she was quite relieved.

“At a hotel,” she said. “Baymoor has plenty of them. That’s more than enough.”

Her reply was casual, almost indifferent.

Logan stood there in silence, staring at her with a frown.

Vivian knew the look well. It usually came right before his temper flared. This time, she didn’t bother accommodating it.

“The villa is in my name. It’s my personal property. How I handle it has nothing to do with you. You’re overstepping.”

His expression turned icy. “We’re about to get married. Don’t I deserve to know when you’re renovating our marital home?”

Vivian met his gaze, and she spoke sharply. “Since when does a decent family use the bride’s personal property as the marital home?”

Logan stared at her intently. “Take a look at yourself. You’re being petty. If this bothered you, you could’ve said something earlier. I could’ve bought another villa for the wedding. It’s not like I can’t afford it. Renovating without a word just puts me in an awkward position.” Vivian smiled faintly. “You haven’t been back in a long time, right? That’s why you didn’t

notice the renovation started ages ago. That’s not on me.‘

A flicker of discomfort crossed his eyes. “Work’s been hectic lately, so

“No need to explain,” she cut in. “It doesn’t matter.”

He paused, studying the indifference in her eyes, then sighed. “I know you’re still upset about Sloane. I’ve already fired her. She’ll never have the chance to appear in front of you again. Stop being angry, okay? This is exhausting for both of us.”

Vivian stayed quiet for a few seconds before responding, “If you find it exhausting, we can break up. I’ve told you before, I don’t necessarily have to marry you.”

Her calm, effortless tone made Logan’s nerves snap taut. He could tell her words weren’t empty threats.

A flicker of unease passed through him. He wanted to pull her into his arms, but the phone rang at that exact moment. His face darkened as he pulled it out, declined the call, then frowned when it rang again.

Vivian looked at him coldly.

A trace of unease flashed through his

eyes.

“It might be an urgent call from the office. Let me answer this,” he said.

She’d heard too many lies lately, so his latest attempt at deception barely registered.

Vivian’s eyes were cold. She gave him a brief glance, then looked away and went back inside after tidying up the yard.

Logan stepped aside to take the call, his expression tense. His gaze flicked toward her from time to time. Seeing that she wasn’t paying attention, he finally lowered his voice. “Nothing serious, right? Don’t worry. I’ll be there soon.”
