I Cancel the Engagement and Level Way Up Chapter 21

Chapter 21

“Go get it back from Ms. Hartwell,” Kingston ordered.

After leaving Kingston’s penthouse, Vivian drove back to Eleanor’s townhouse.

On the way, she called Vanessa and asked her to find new potential buyers for her Whitfield Group shares.

Vivian held 51% of the company’s shares, so selling that entire package all at once wasn’t easy. Not every company had the resources or the willingness to

ake a purchase as massive as Howard Group’s.

If she split it into smaller portions for sale, word would get out immediately, and Logan would find out. Given how urgently she needed to sell, Howard Group really was her best option.

Vivian understood that perfectly well. She just couldn’t figure out Kingston’s attitude toward the whole thing. After all, she only had ten days left. When that day came, she had to return to Durmont.

Before ending the call, Vanessa said she would try to find a solution.

Back in the courtyard, Vivian collapsed into a lounge chair, utterly drained. She was starting to regret letting her pride get the better of her for running off before the deal was done.

Just then, her phone rang. She glanced at the unfamiliar number on her phone and swiped to decline. A few seconds later, it rang again, and she declined again.

She’d been idle at home for the past six months. The company never contacted her, and she rarely heard from anyone else, so she figured it was just a telemarketer. But the caller was insistent.

Annoyed, Vivian grabbed the phone and snapped into the receiver, “Spit it out already!”

There was silence on the other end.

Kingston immediately handed the phone to Theo.

Theo looked confused and muttered, “Ms. Hartwell still isn’t picking up?”

Kingston glanced at him and shoved the phone into his hand.

“She said to spit it out.”

Theo looked down and saw that the screen showed an active call. He quickly raised the phone to his ear.

“Hello, Ms. Hartwell. I’m…”

Vivian had already heard the exchange between Theo and Kingston. Her expression stiffened. She responded mechanically.

“Hello.”

Theo explained why he was calling and offered to come pick up the coat himself. They had helped her at the hospital that day, after all. Vivian couldn’t possibly make them come get it. She immediately offered to bring the coat to them instead.

Perhaps she could seize the opportunity to raise the Whitfield Group shares with Kingston again.

This time, she’d swallow her pride no matter what.

Theo replied, “Then, I’ll have to trouble you.”

Vivian replied politely, “I should be thanking you-”

Before she could finish, the call ended. She stared at the screen for a few seconds, stunned.

Meanwhile, Theo looked at Kingston, confused.

Kingston had just snatched the phone back and ended the call. With an unreadable expression, he opened a game on his phone.

“You took a little too long spitting that out.”
