Chapter 552

“Leopold, what are your plans now?”

Outside the villa gates, Finley and Leopold lingered, watching the warm lights of the living

room and listening to the faint sounds of laughter from within.

Finley opened the vial and swallowed the pill inside. It was an antidote, but it was incredibly bitter.

Leopold’s gaze was firm. “I’m going to keep writing music. I’ll become the top artist in the industry. Then I’ll hold the biggest concert ever and give Larissa the most unforgettable birthday celebration of all time.”

He paused and turned to his brother. “What about you? Grandpa isn’t giving you the company anymore. What will you do?”

Finley looked down. “After all this, I’ve realized that just being healthy is more important than anything else. I think… I need to live differently. I want to go to Spire Village for a while. I want to experience the kind of life Larissa had there.”

“Go to the countryside?” Leopold said, surprised. “Finley, Dad has always had such high hopes for you. Do you think he’ll agree?”

“I’m not going to listen to Dad anymore,” Finley replied with a bitter smile. “It was because I always listened to him that my relationship with Neville and Sapphira fell apart. Tonight, I wasn’t even allowed to set foot inside their home.”

He remembered a time, long ago, when he knew Neville and Sapphira had no children and felt lonely. He had promised them he would visit often to keep them company.

But as he grew up, he forgot that promise. His father constantly reminded him that he was the heir to the Judson fortune and that he shouldn’t get too close to Neville and Sapphira; even without children, they were still rivals for the inheritance.

And now? He had lost the inheritance and his relationship with them.

Leopold had no rebuttal.

“Leopold, don’t tell Mom and Dad that I’m leaving for Spire Village,” Finley requested earnestly.

After a moment of silence, Leopold nodded. “Okay.”

After discussing the final details of the gown with her mother, Larissa went to her room. She had just gotten out of the shower when she saw a message from Haskell, sent ten minutes earlier.

[I’m going to the asylum tomorrow to ask Thatch about my brother.]

It was clear that searching blindly like this was a long shot.

Larissa fed Sage and her other pets before climbing into bed and pulling the covers up. She picked up her phone and started a video call with Haskell.

He answered almost instantly. Seeing his face on the screen, Larissa couldn’t help but smile. “Haskell, were you just sitting there waiting for my reply?”

Even through the camera, he was impossibly handsome. His hair was slightly messy, giving him a relaxed look. A faint smile played on his lips.

“I was,” he admitted softly. “I’ve been holding my phone for the last fifteen minutes, terrified I’d miss your message.”

Larissa leaned back against her headboard, getting comfortable. “After your treatment tomorrow afternoon, I’ll go to the asylum with you.”

Haskell smiled. “Good. I was hoping you’d say that.”

His deep eyes clouded with a familiar pain. “Larissa, I still can’t bring myself to torture my own father for information. But I can’t put off finding my brother any longer.”
