“Because the one I really want your father to choose is the other one.”
“Fulbright?!” Livia was stunned.
“Exactly. You said it yourself, your father’s illegitimate son loves to
oppose you. If you say you want Rigby, he will undoubtedly push for Fulbright.”
“But Fulbright is a huge star,” Livia argued. “He’s critically acclaimed and has a massive fanbase. If he’s the lead, my father’s new show is
guaranteed to be at least a moderate hit.”
“That’s precisely the point,” Larissa said coolly. “Fulbright: award–winning, great reputation, squeaky clean, beloved by fans. His influence is enormous. Which means that when his scandal breaks, the fallout will be catastrophic. It will shake the entire entertainment industry to its core, and their show, ‘Soaring High‘, will die along with his career.”
Livia was skeptical. “If Fulbright had any skeletons in his closet, they would have been found by now. How could something big enough to ruin him have stayed hidden for so long?”
“Because it’s been hidden well.”
Though doubtful, Livia chose to trust Larissa. “I understand.”
“But are you sure about this?” Larissa asked, her tone serious. “Are you prepared to do whatever it takes to take control of Gale Entertainment, even if it means significant losses for the company?”
Livia’s voice turned hard with conviction. “Gale Entertainment was built by
my mother and father together. But when it became successful, everyone gave my father all the credit. They said my mother was lucky to reap the rewards.
What rewards? She worked herself to the bone–sleepless nights, endless networking, constant stress. It destroyed her health. And just when she

was supposed to start enjoying her life, she found out her husband had a mistress and an illegitimate son, a son only three years younger than me. The shock caused her health to collapse.”
“Her illness was treatable,” Livia continued, her voice thick with hatred. “She could have recovered. But the mistress was impatient. The company was thriving, she had given my father a son, and she wanted to be officially recognized. So she deliberately let my mother know she existed. My mother’s condition worsened immediately, and she died shortly after.”
“A week after my mother’s funeral, my father brought that woman and her son into our home. How could I ever forgive that?”
“Before she died, my mother transferred all of her company shares to me. Her only instruction was to never, ever let that company fall into the
hands of my father’s illegitimate son.”
“So, if I can’t have Gale Entertainment,” Livia finished, her voice a low growl, “I will burn it to the ground. I will never let Damon Tyson’s bastard son profit from my mother’s legacy.”
“I understand,” Larissa said. “If you’re that determined, I’m willing to help you. But I don’t do business at a loss. My condition is this: after I help you deal with your father and his son, you will sell me all of your shares in Gale Entertainment at market price.”
Livia knew Larissa was planning a takeover. But she had no other choice. She couldn’t defeat Damon and his son on her own. It was better to cash out and walk away. With her shares and her own earnings, she would have more than enough to live comfortably for the rest of her life. “Done,” she agreed. “I own 20% of the shares. They’re all yours.”
“One more thing,” Larissa added. “My sources tell me Lucius has found Honora and taken her with him. She’s likely told him you helped me. Be careful around Lucius. I have reason to believe he’s involved in some dangerous activities lately.”
