Chapter 508
Haskell looked down, a faint smile on his lips. “Yes. I can’t afford to miss any possibility.”
“You’ll find him,” Larissa said with a reassuring smile of her own. “Now, let’s eat.”
Her smile was infectious. “Alright,” Haskell agreed.
After they finished their meal, Haskell sat in his wheelchair, his eyes fixed on Larissa as she prepared
her needles.
Suddenly, the gentle chime of his phone broke the silence.
Haskell averted his gaze, pulled out his phone, and glanced at the screen. A flicker of something unreadable passed through his eyes when he saw the caller’s name. He swiped to answer.
“Grandpa,” Haskell’s voice was low and warm.
Larissa, who had been focused on her work, looked up at the word “Grandpa,” her eyes meeting
Haskell’s.
On the other end of the line, the patriarch of the Palmer family, Zoltan, asked, “Is Larissa with you right now?”
Haskell’s gaze returned to Larissa. “Yes, she is. Is something wrong?”
“Ask her if she’s free,” Zoltan’s voice came through the phone. “If she is, I’d like both of you to come to the estate this evening.”
“Alright.” Haskell lowered the phone slightly. “Larissa, my grandfather wants to know if you’re free to come to the estate with me tonight.”
Larissa nodded. “Of course. I’ll just let my parents know.”
Haskell relayed the message to his grandfather. “Larissa is free.”
“Good. Come over together after work,” Zoltan said before hanging up.
As Haskell put his phone away, Larissa couldn’t help but feel a flicker of curiosity. “Haskell, why would your grandfather specifically ask for me to come to the Palmer estate? That seems a little strange.”
A slight smile played on Haskell’s lips. “I think I have an idea why he’s asking you to come.”
“Oh? Why is that?” Larissa pressed.
“It’s probably about Faith being poisoned,” Haskell explained with a knowing smile.
“Faith?” The name jogged Larissa’s memory. “Ah, I’ve been so busy lately, I completely forgot about poisoning her.”
As she spoke, the pieces began to click into place. “So, Faith is planning to use your grandfather to force me to give her the antidote, isn’t she?”
Haskell nodded. “That would be my guess.”
Larissa shrugged. “I see. It seems Faith didn’t learn her lesson. Trying to use your grandfather to

threaten me.”
“My grandfather won’t just take her word for it,” Haskell said. “And since the poison is undetectable, she’s probably in for a disappointment.”
A sly smile spread across Larissa’s face. “Oh, I’m planning to do more than just disappoint her. I was only going to teach her a small lesson, but now… I’ve decided she won’t be getting the antidote until you are securely in charge of the Palmer family.”
She added, “Maybe you should find a way to get Garrick over here too. I can poison him at the same time. That should keep him from getting too arrogant in the future.”
Haskell laughed in agreement. “An excellent idea. We’ll find a chance to nab Garrick. Once he’s poisoned, he’ll have no choice but to behave if he wants to live.”
Then, a thought occurred to him. “Larissa, your poison is like a cheat code. It seems like you could get anyone to do anything just by poisoning them.”
