The Throne of Thorns Novel Chapter 436

Wings of Broken Time by Alina Das 436

Helena’s cloudy eyes narrowed. “If her medical skills are that advanced, she was likely trained by one of these masters. That means trying to poison or drug her quietly probably won’t work.”

“If I’m going to use force,” Lucius said, his voice turning colder, “I’m not going to be subtle about it.”

Helena raised no objections. “This time, make sure it’s clean. Leave no loose ends that can be traced back to you.”

She tightened her grip on the prayer beads. “That little brat cla

now all our family’s secrets. I’d like to see what kind of storm a little girl like her can stir up in our city.”

Just then, Lucius’s assistant called.

“Mr. Lincoln.”

“What is it?”

“We received a tip from one of Solomon’s men. Draven’s flight is scheduled to land in Regal City soon.”

Lucius’s eyes darkened.

So Draven had been in Africa with Solomon. But why would Solomon let him return unharmed now, and more importantly, why would he make sure Lucius knew about it?

“Solomon said he heard about what happened with Jagger and wanted to do you a favor by handing over Haskell’s dear brother for you to deal with.”

“A favor? How generous,” Lucius sneered. “Solomon just wants to use me to get rid of Haskell so he can become the Palmer family heir. Fine. I’ll play along. Have our men pick Draven up.”

“Understood.”

…

After clearing customs at Regal City Airport, Draven was unceremoniously dumped on the side of the road by Talon, Solomon’s right–hand man.

“Good luck, Draven,” Talon said before getting back in the car and speeding away.

Draven struggled to his feet. He knew his location had been leaked to Lucius. If Lucius got his hands on him and used him against Haskell, his fate would be even worse than it had been with Solomon.

He had to escape. He stumbled forward, but he hadn’t gone more than a few dozen yards

when a Porsche screeched to a halt beside him. The door flew open, and before he could react, two large bodyguards dragged him into the car. The door slammed shut, and the car sped off.

As panic set in, Draven braced himself for the worst, certain he was now in Lucius’s clutches. But then he saw the person in the driver’s seat. It was Crispin.

“Crispin! It’s you!” Draven exclaimed, a wave of relief washing over him. “My brother sent you to rescue me, didn’t he?” He grabbed onto the hope like a lifeline. “He does still care about me… Thank god…”

Crispin ignored him, glancing in the rearview mirror at Lucius

the curb, fuming. He let out a cold snort. Did Lucius really think boss? He seemed to have forgotten that he had never once won against him.

Draven didn’t seem to mind Crispin’s silence. He leaned back against the seat, closed his eyes, and let out a long, shuddering breath.

He was saved. Haskell would forgive him. He had to.

After her second Twitter post, Larissa ignored the storm raging in her mentions. She left the office, planning to head to the Palmer Group for Haskell’s daily treatment. But just as she was leaving, Haskell called.

“Larissa, meet me at the old spot today.”

He didn’t give a reason, and she didn’t ask for one. “Okay,” she said simply.

She hung up, got in her car, and drove to their usual “date” spot.

An hour later, as she approached the lakeside gazebo, she heard the muffled, strained sounds of a woman struggling.

“Mmmph…”
