Chapter 428
Larissa, completely unfazed, twisted the knife. “I just wanted to congratulate you, Mr. Lincoln. You made it to the top of the trending list tonight with that little video with your uncle. You’ve given the public a wonderful glimpse of your beauty and your perfect physique. I’m sure all the gay men out there are especially grateful.”
“Larissa!” he roared.
She laughed again. “Mr. Lincoln, the last time I visited your family to make my aunt Josette honor our bet, I told Helena I know everything about you all. I warned her not to provoke me, or I would make the Lincoln family as disgraced and destitute as Paxton’s family.”
Without giving him a chance to respond, she ended the call. Larissa could just imagine Lucius’s apoplectic rage on the other end of that provocative call.
Good. That was exactly the effect she wanted.
Nine o’clock at night.
As Leopold’s car pulled up to Garrick’s mansion, a figure was hurled from the iron gates like a sack of trash.
Leopold squinted. It was his older brother, Finley.
“If you’re going to die, don’t do it at my house! So unlucky!” Garrick shouted from behind the gate, his arms crossed and his face a mask of disgust.
Leopold slammed on the brakes, threw open his door, and rushed to Finley’s side. “Bro!” he cried, his voice filled with alarm.
Finley was covered in dirt, his handsome face a mess of dark bruises. He was pale as a sheet, his brow furrowed in agony. Despite the cool autumn air, beads of sweat dripped from his forehead, matting his hair. Worst of all, a steady trickle of blood flowed from the corner of his mouth, staining the collar of his white shirt a ghastly crimson.
Leopold knelt, carefully helping him up. He then glared at Garrick, who was hiding behind his bodyguards inside the gate. “What did you do to my brother?” he bellowed.
Garrick just shrugged, completely unfazed. “Don’t you dare accuse me of anything. I didn’t touch him. Leopold, if you know what’s good for you, get this half–dead loser out of here before he croaks on my doorstep and messes up the place.”
With a flick of his wrist, he ordered his guards to shut the gates.
There was no time to argue. Leopold hoisted Finley onto his shoulder, carried him to the car, and gently wiped the blood from his mouth and neck with a tissue.

Chapter 428
“Finley… don’t scare me. What’s wrong? Why are you bleeding so much?”
Finley’s eyelids fluttered open. “The… the poison…” he rasped, his voice burely a whisper, “It’s… acting up…”
The pain was worse than ever before, a searing agony that felt like his bones were being ground to dust. He would have preferred it if Leopold had just put him out of his misery.
The poison! Leopold remembered. Larissa had poisoned Finley. That meant only Larissa could stop his suffering.
