The Throne of Thorns Novel Chapter 288

Wings of Broken Time by Alina Das 288

After Zendar sat down, a buzz of conversation filled the room.

“I used to think that after Mr. Palmer was crippled and dumped by Honora, being forced to marry some girl from the countryside was the ultimate fall from grace. But now, marrying the true heiress. of the Judson family? It looks like a blessing in disguise.”

“Exactly! Did you see her tonight? Her medical skills are unbelievable. She cured a poison that even the most renowned doctor in Regal City couldn’t handle.”

“And she’s connected to one of the most powerful figures in Regal City’s history. Her network is incredible.”

Nearby, Mr. Lawson set down his wine glass, an air of mystery about him. “Hah, you’ve only seen the surface. This Ms. Judson is far more formidable than you know.”

“Oh? What else do you know, Mr. Lawson?” the guests asked, their curiosity piqued.

Mr. Lawson wagged a finger. “What I know is just the tip of the iceberg. But since she’s marrying Mr. Palmer, she’ll be staying in Regal City. You’ll all find out just how impressive she is soon enough.”

His words left them hanging, eager to discover what other secrets Larissa held.

Meanwhile, at the Palmer family table, Fraser leaned toward Solomon and whispered, “You see that, Solomon? With the Schwartz family backing her, Larissa makes Haskell unstoppable. Your path to becoming the heir just got a lot harder.”

Solomon scoffed. “So what if she has their backing? The most they can do is protect her. They’re not going to interfere in the Palmer family’s internal affairs, are they?”

“It sounds like you’re still determined to claim the inheritance,” Fraser teased.

Solomon shot him a cold smile. “Don’t be so snide, Fraser. You think I don’t know what you’re up to? You want me to go after Haskell so you can swoop in and reap the rewards. You really think you’re the smartest person in the room, don’t you?”

Fraser’s smile vanished.

“Go on, watch the fight from the sidelines,” Solomon sneered. “Let’s see if you end up with the prize or with nothing at all.”

After the party ended and the last of the guests had departed, Larissa and Haskell were left standing together. Suddenly, a thought struck her. “Hey, what happened to Torrin? He just disappeared.”

A flicker of something unreadable crossed Haskell’s deep eyes. “I called his father,” he said with a smile. “I imagine he was taken home.”

“Oh,” Larissa said, not pressing further. Torrin was annoying, but at least he had the principles not to team up with someone like Draven to hurt her.

Just then, Trevor and his two sons approached.

Chapter 288

“Haskell, to think your own brother was the one who crippled you. I truly feel for you,” Fraser said with false sympathy. “If you had never brought Draven back, your legs would still be fine. Grandpa was going to officially name you the heir tonight. Such a shame.”

Garrick, trailing behind his father, added with a look of feigned apology, “Haskell, I’m really sorry about planning to send you a hundred wheelchairs for your engagement. If I’d known your own brother was behind your accident, I wouldn’t have rubbed salt in the wound like that.”

Their words were dripping with concern, but each one was a deliberate jab at the raw wound of Haskell’s betrayal.
