The Throne of Thorns Novel Chapter 287

Wings of Broken Time by Alina Das 287

“Dad, Vivica and I are taking Finley and Honora to the hospital-”

Before Paxton could finish, Kiernan waved a dismissive hand. “Go. Don’t delay their treatment. You’re not needed at Larissa’s engagement party anyway.”

Paxton bristled at Kiernan’s coldness but swallowed his anger and left with his wife and children.

As Honora dragged her heavy feet toward the exit, she heard Haskell’s heartfelt proposal from behind. An unbearable bitterness swelled in her chest. She covered her swollen face with her hands and turned to look back at the stage.

Under the dazzling chandeliers, Haskell shone like a star. He held the ring box, his eyes locked on Larissa, overflowing with an adoration she had never seen before. His handsome face was etched with a profound sincerity.

The sight was a dagger to Honora’s heart. She was supposed to be the one standing on that stage, receiving his proposal. She was supposed to be the center of attention, basking in the exclusive love of this extraordinary man.

But now? All that glory and happiness had vanished, leaving her with nothing but pain and humiliation.

Why? Honora bit her lip, tears welling in her eyes. Why had she ended up like this, scurrying away like a cornered rat?

She wouldn’t accept it!

A dark, vicious look hardened her eyes. She would not go down without a fight. Everything that should have been hers–this moment, Haskell’s love–she would find a way to take it all back.

Watching Haskell propose to Larissa, a defiant Torrin threw down his bouquet of crushed roses and started for the stage, determined to reclaim her. But after only two steps, a sack was thrown over his head from behind, plunging him into darkness. He tried to cry out, but his consciousness faded, and his eyes closed.

On stage.

Faced with Haskell’s sincere proposal, Larissa extended her hand without hesitation.

“Of course I will,” she said, her voice firm and clear.

Haskell smiled warmly, taking her hand and gently sliding the ring onto her middle finger. He then bent his head and pressed a soft kiss to the ring.

“I have one more announcement to make tonight,” Haskell said, turning with Larissa to face the crowd. “Larissa and I will be married on New Year’s Day. We hope you will all join us to celebrate.”

The guests erupted in applause.

Finally, Larissa spoke, her smile confident and radiant, “As Haskell said, our wedding will be on New Year’s Day, symbolizing a new year and a new beginning. Haskell will be reborn, starting a new chapter in his life, and together, we will find a new happiness.”

“Yes! Larissa, you deserve all the happiness in the world!” Zendar shouted, rising to his feet to lead the applause. “Many of you old–timers probably still remember me and the stories you’ve heard. Yes, I am the chairman of the Schwartz family. And you all know what the Schwartz family means in Regal City. So let me make one thing clear: if anyone ever dares to bully Larissa the way that Draven did tonight, they will be making an enemy of the Schwartz family. And you will bear the

consequences.”

The guests from families of lesser standing than the Schwartzes fell silent, a chill running down their spines.
