The Throne of Thorns Novel Chapter 267

Wings of Broken Time by Alina Das 267

“Torrin Dillon, shut your mouth!” Draven shouted, realizing the situation was spiraling out of his control. He and his bodyguards rushed forward, trying to stop Torrin from saying another

word.

Larissa couldn’t help but smile wryly at the spectacle. “Well, it seems Draven has managed to trip himself up with Torrin before we even had to lift a finger.”

Haskell smiled back. “Draven never understands. The only reason he was ever able to scheme against me was because I used to trust him, not because he was particularly

clever.”

Unfazed by Draven’s warning, Torrin continued speaking to Larissa, bold as ever. “You want me to shut up? I don’t think so! I’m going to say my piece! I thought it was strange at the time, so I asked him why he would help me win you over.”

This time, Larissa played along. “Oh? And what did he say?”

Torrin pointed a finger at Haskell. “He said he was doing it to help his brother! He said Haskell didn’t really want to marry you, so he invited me here to ruin your engagement!”

Having delivered this bombshell, Torrin looked smug. Surely, after he exposed Haskell in front of everyone, Larissa would never go through with the marriage.

“I see,” Larissa said, feigning deep interest. “Is there more? What else did Draven say? Or what else did he want you to do?”

Encouraged by her response, Torrin stood up straighter. “Yes! There’s something even more despicable!”

Draven was practically vibrating with rage. He finally reached Torrin and grabbed him by the collar. “Didn’t you hear me? I told you to shut up!”

He waved his bodyguards forward. “Seize him! Don’t let him spout any more nonsense and

brother’s engagement party!”

But before the bodyguards could move, Crispin and his men stepped in, blocking their path.

“Crispin, what are you doing?” Draven demanded, his face contorted with fury.

From behind them, Haskell’s voice cut through the tension, cold and authoritative. “Drav step aside. Let Mr. Dillon continue. I want to hear what else he has to say.”

Draven’s fists clenched. He glared at Torrin, hoping the man would have the sense to stop

now.

But Torrin felt emboldened. He cleared his throat and continued his indictment.

“Not only that, but Haskell’s own brother proposed a disgusting plan. He wanted me to drug

you during the party tonight. He said I should take advantage of you, so that when we were caught together, you’d be so compromised that you’d have no choice but to marry me!”

“Do you see now, Larissa? This was all Haskell’s idea! He doesn’t love you, and he doesn’t want to marry you! But since he couldn’t do the dirty work himself, he came up with this twisted scheme!”

“I have no respect for a man like that! That’s why I had to come here today and tell you the truth. I won’t let you walk into this trap! Larissa, I love you, I truly do! Will you give me another chance? No matter what happens, I will never test your feelings for me again. I would rather die than ever break up with you!”

After his passionate speech, Torrin held the bouquet of roses higher, declaring, “Larissa, if you believe me, I will take you away from here right now! Tomorrow, I will throw you an engagement party just as grand as this one!”

Larissa’s reply was cool and measured. “Torrin, while I’ve found your constant pestering since our breakup quite annoying, I must thank you for doing Haskell and me a favor tonight.”
