The Throne of Thorns Novel Chapter 14

Wings of Broken Time by Alina Das 14

Wings of Broken Time by Alina Das 14 Summary

In this chapter, Larissa boldly addresses Sapphira as “Mom,” which deeply hurts Vivica, who considers herself Larissa’s real mother. Larissa rejects Vivica’s claim and coldly refers to her as “Aunt Vivica,” making it clear she no longer wants to be associated with her birth mother. This sparks tension as Vivica tries to assert her maternal role, but Kiernan, the family head, intervenes and declares that Larissa will be officially registered as the daughter of Neville and Sapphira.

Despite Vivica’s protests and Paxton’s attempts to calm the situation, Larissa firmly states she does not want her biological parents and is willing to legally sever ties with them. She even presents her ID and birth certificate to Kiernan to prove her decision. Kiernan supports her choice and instructs Neville and Sapphira to take care of Larissa, signaling a significant shift in family dynamics.

As they return to the east villa, Sapphira is overwhelmed with the reality of having a daughter, feeling joy and disbelief at becoming a mother without the usual hardships. Neville gently supports Sapphira, showing warmth and care for both her and Larissa. Later, Sapphira seeks reassurance from Larissa about her sincerity in wanting them as parents, worried the decision might have been made in anger.

Larissa confirms her genuine affection for Neville and Sapphira and firmly states she will never regret her choice to become their daughter. Sapphira is relieved and warmly embraces Larissa as her daughter, vowing that no one will ever take her away. The chapter ends with a new, heartfelt family bond solidified between Larissa, Neville, and Sapphira.

Chapter 14

“Mom,” Larissa said softly, the word flowing from her lips as naturally as a gentle breeze. To Sapphira, it was the sweetest sound she had ever heard, like a melody that warmed her heart. But to Vivica, the word felt like a sharp blade piercing through her chest.

“Don’t be difficult, Larissa. I’m your real mother,” Vivica insisted, her voice trembling with a mixture of desperation and authority.

Larissa pulled back from Sapphira’s comforting embrace, her gaze turning icy as she fixed Vivica with a cold stare. “Don’t you dare call me your daughter, Aunt Vivica. Your daughter’s name is Honora,” she said firmly, her tone leaving no room for argument.

“Aunt Vivica?” The words hit Vivica like a thunderclap, her eyes widening in disbelief. “I’m your mother, Larissa, not Aunt Vivica!” She reached out swiftly, trying to grasp Larissa’s arm.

Before the situation could escalate further, Kiernan slammed his cane onto the floor, the sharp noise silencing everyone. “Enough!” he commanded, his voice steady and resolute. “It’s far too late for regrets. As the head of this family, I will make this official. My granddaughter will be registered as the daughter of Neville and his wife.”

“Dad,” Vivica pleaded, her voice cracking with emotion.

Kiernan’s expression hardened. “Your daughter has disowned you. You have no one to blame but yourselves.”

A surge of indignation rose within Vivica. She had never imagined her daughter could be so stubborn, so unyielding. She had only spoken a few harsh words, yet Larissa had turned away and embraced her aunt as her new mother.

“Dad, the girl is just acting out,” Paxton interjected, trying to mediate. “This talk about adoption is nonsense. No matter what, she’s still our daughter. We would never abandon her.”

“Stop flattering yourselves,” Larissa shot back, her voice cold and unwavering. “I’m not acting out. I simply don’t want you. Even if you were to kick Honora out right now, I still wouldn’t acknowledge you.”

Paxton’s eyes darkened with frustration at his daughter’s blatant defiance.

“If you don’t believe me,” Larissa continued, “I’ll sign a legal document severing all ties with you.”

The fury in Vivica and Paxton left them momentarily speechless.

To prove her point, Larissa reached into her bag and pulled out her ID and birth certificate, handing them over to Kiernan.

“Grandpa, please transfer my records to Neville and Sapphira’s household as soon as possible,” she requested firmly.

Kiernan took the documents, nodding in acknowledgment. “Very well.”

Turning to his eldest son and daughter-in-law, he said, “You’ve all had a long day. Take Larissa and get her settled. We’ll have dinner together later.”

Neville and Sapphira quickly agreed. “Yes, Dad.”

As they walked along the gravel path leading back to the east villa, Sapphira’s mind was spinning. *I have a daughter? I really have a daughter!* she thought in disbelief. *Oh my God, I’ve become a mother without any of the pain.*

Neville noticed her distracted steps and caught her arm gently as she stumbled over a loose stone. “Careful,” he said with a warm smile. “Don’t make a fool of yourself in front of our daughter.”

Sapphira steadied herself and glanced at Larissa, uncertainty flickering in her eyes. “Larissa, now that it’s just the three of us, be honest. When you said you wanted us to be your parents, you weren’t just saying that out of anger, were you?”

Larissa hadn’t realized how deeply her decision had affected her aunt. But instead of wavering, it only strengthened her resolve. “Of course not. I really like you both. From now on, you’re my parents.”

She hesitated for a moment. “Unless… you don’t want me as your daughter?”

“Of course we do!” Sapphira answered quickly, relief flooding her voice. “I was just worried you might be acting impulsively and could regret it later. But if you’ve made up your mind, it’s not too late. We can ask Grandpa not to change the registration.”

“I won’t,” Larissa said firmly. “I will never regret this.”

A relieved smile blossomed on Sapphira’s face. “Good. Larissa, from this day forward, you are our daughter, and no one will ever take you away from us.”
