The Throne of Thorns Novel Chapter 11

Wings of Broken Time by Alina Das 11

Wings of Broken Time by Alina Das 11 Summary

Honora, overwhelmed with emotion, offers to leave the family home so her sister Larissa can stay, hoping to ease the pain for their parents, Paxton and Vivica. Vivica, however, resents Honora’s attitude and loyalty, believing that Larissa deserves to remain as the true Judson heiress. She bluntly tells Honora that if she wants to return to the family, she must accept Larissa’s place and swallow her pride, otherwise they will disown her.

Sapphira and Neville arrive unexpectedly, with Sapphira confronting Paxton and Vivica for rejecting their own daughter. She sympathizes with Larissa’s suffering and criticizes the family for favoring Honora, who is connected to the criminal responsible for Larissa’s pain. Honora glares at Sapphira with hostility, while Leopold defends Honora’s innocence as a baby during those dark times. Larissa, hurt and defiant, declares she wants nothing to do with a family that rejects her and insists Honora cannot stay.

Just then, Kiernan, the sharp-eyed grandfather, enters the scene. His presence commands attention, and he harshly criticizes Paxton for abandoning his own daughter in favor of raising the child of his enemy. His words deepen the family conflict, revealing the deep divisions and resentments that have fractured the Judson household.

Honora quickly pushed Leopold away and turned, her voice choked with emotion. “Dad, Mom, I know this is difficult for you. I don’t want to be the cause of your pain. If only one of us can stay, let it be sister. I’ll leave.”

If it weren’t for the marriage to Haskell, Vivica wouldn’t have wanted this daughter back in the first place. A life of luxury was right in front of her, and she was still making a scene? Vivica didn’t believe for a second that her biological daughter would actually give up the status of a Judson heiress.

Fine. No more pleasantries.

“Leopold is right,” Vivica said, her voice turning sharp. “You’re my daughter, and I didn’t want to hurt your feelings, but look at you. You’re arrogant, ungrateful, and you have no idea what’s good for you. Let me be blunt. Compared to you, Honora is far superior. We will not abandon a daughter we raised for twenty years just because you share our blood.”

Vivica laid her cards on the table. “If you want to return to the Judson family and live a comfortable life as an heiress, then you will swallow your pride and accept that Honora will continue to live here as a daughter of this house.”

Her final words were an ultimatum. “Otherwise, we will have no choice but to give up on you.”

Before Larissa could respond, Sapphira’s pained voice came from the doorway.

“Paxton, Vivica, are you truly so foolish that you would cast aside your own daughter?”

Larissa turned in surprise to see Sapphira and Neville walking back in.

Approaching her, Sapphira’s eyes were filled with heartache. “I was so worried about you, I had to come back and check. I never imagined…”

Leopold scowled at his aunt. “Aunt Sapphira, it’s not that we don’t want her. She’s the one who insists on leaving!*

“And can you blame her?” Sapphira countered. “You insist on keeping the daughter of the criminal who caused her to suffer for twenty years. How could her heart not turn cold?”

At this, Honora shot Sapphira a look filled with venom. This meddling old hag! No wonder she can’t have children! She deserves it!

Neville, noticing the malicious glare directed at his wife, narrowed his eyes at Honora. She immediately masked her expression and looked away.

Leopold disagreed. “Aunt Sapphira, Honora was just an infant then. What could she have done? It wasn’t her fault.”

Larissa was warmed by Sapphira’s defense of her. “Aunt Sapphira, don’t waste your breath on them. I have no interest in a family like this. They don’t want me, and I certainly don’t want them.”

“You poor child…” Sapphira’s eyes reddened as she reached out to stroke Larissa’s cheek. “Perhaps you could just endure it for a while, let Honora stay…”

Larissa shook her head. “No. If they want to acknowledge me as their daughter, then the daughter of

my enemy cannot stay here for another day.”

Just then, a deep, elderly voice boomed from the entrance.

“Has my precious granddaughter been brought home?”

An old man leaning on a cane walked in, escorted by the butler, Jett.

Larissa turned to see him. This must be Kiernan, her Grandpa. He looked to be around eighty, with white hair, but his eyes were sharp and his steps were steady.

Seeing him, Paxton’s stem demeanor vanished. He hurried to help, but Kiernan waved him off. “I don’t need help from a fool like you! Abandoning your own daughter to raise the child of your enemy! I’m starting to wonder if she’s your illegitimate daughter!”
