desperation, he wished so badly that Abril was there.

Cassian approached his brother and said, “I think we should call Abril. No doctor has been able to figure out what’s wrong with her. She’s still very young. If she doesn’t improve soon, it could be 

fatal.”

come back.” 

Alessandro left the room, as he didn’t want to wake Lissana, who had just fallen asleep. He went to 

his room, took the pendant from his neck, and began to call Abril.

Abril responded to his call immediately. “Lessan, are you alright? How is Lissana?” 

Alessandro could feel the anxiety in Abril’s voice, and it pained him to have to tell her that Lissana wasn’t well. “I’m fine. Are you alright?”

Sirius helped her to lie down on the bed. Then he called one of the maids and asked for various 

herbs, spices, hot water, and a mortar and pestle from the kitchen to grind everything. When they 

brought him everything he had asked for, he took out a few herbs he carried in his bag and began 

to grind them into a viscous green paste. Sirius took a little and stirred it with hot water, creating a 

kind of tea, and served it to Abril. 

That tea had a strong mint smell and looked disgusting. She hoped it wouldn’t taste as bad as it 

looked. After the first sip, she wanted to spit it out, but Sirius forced her to drink it, saying, “You 

have to drink it all, so don’t even think about spitting it out.” 

Abril forced herself to drink that disgusting concoction for the love of her daughter. When she 

finished everything Sirius had served her, she asked, “How long will it take for that potion to take 

effect?” 

“It will take a while.” 

“I don’t have that much time!” 

“That’s your only option. No matter how much of a hurry you’re in, you have to wait. Besides, you 

still have a lot to drink.” 

“What?” 

“You didn’t think it would just be one cup, did you? You have to finish it all.” He lifted the teapot to show her everything he had prepared. “Otherwise, it won’t work.” 

Sirius poured her another cup and said, “If you want to get back to Cosset, you better hurry up.” 

Abril continued to drink that disgusting concoction that Sirius had prepared for her. Although it tasted horrible, Abril couldn’t deny that it was very effective. After finishing her second cup, she began to feel much better. When she reached the last cup, she felt completely fine. 

“This concoction you gave me tasted horrible, but it’s very effective.” 

“Yes, but that will only make you feel better temporarily. When it wears off, you’ll feel bad again, but at least we can get to Cosset without you dying on the way… or so I think.” 

Sirius‘ words didn’t inspire much confidence in Abril but at that moment she was desperate to 

return, so she had no choice but to take the risk. 

Abril got out of bed. There was no dizziness, no weakness in her body, which was a great relief. She put on the boots that were next to her bed and said, “Let’s go, we must get to Cosset immediately.”
