The Heart Surgeon’s Last Patient Novel Chapter 328

Night Carved Paths Into Silence by Zyrel Ash ` 328

Chapter 328

Edward finally couldn’t take it anymore, the color draining slightly from his face.

He forced a smile at the bankers, who were listening intently, and walked toward the restroom on unsteady feet.

He could even feel Roderick’s calm, unwavering gaze on his back, like cold needles pricking his skin.

Stumbling into the spacious and ornate restroom, Edward

slammed his hands on the cold marble counter, gasping for

breath.

He looked at the man in the mirror–pale, with a trace of shock,

anger, and panic in his eyes–and could hardly recognize him as

the man who had always been so successful.

Why?

Why did things spiral out of control whenever he encountered

Roderick?

That feeling of being in his element, of having everything under

control, had vanished without a trace.

Chapter 328

Was it a coincidence?

Or did Roderick really have some strange method he didn’t

know about?

Something that could specifically counter him?

He turned on the faucet and splashed cold water hard on his

face, trying to calm himself down.

The water droplets slid down his well–defined cheeks, bone-

chillingly cold, but they couldn’t extinguish the frustrated anger

and faint unease in his heart.

He had to think clearly, he had to…

Just then, the restroom door was pushed open silently.

In the mirror, another person’s figure appeared.

Roderick walked in slowly, his expression still stern, his steps

steady and devoid of any worldly air.

He walked to the adjacent sink, not looking at Edward, and just

methodically turned on the faucet and began washing his

hands, as if it were a perfectly ordinary act.

In the cramped space, the only sounds were the rushing water

and Edward’s still ragged, heavy breathing.

This extreme calm, in contrast to Edward’s outburst, created an

immense, suffocating pressure.

Edward snapped his head up, staring daggers‘ at Roderick

through the mirror.

His voice was a bit hoarse from suppressing his emotions:

“Roderick… what the hell do you want?”

Roderick turned off the faucet, pulled out a paper towel, and

carefully wiped every drop of water from his hands, his

movements elegant and slow.

He finally turned his head, his calm gaze falling on Edward’s

pale and hostile face.

“What do you think, Mr. Carroll?”

His voice was completely flat, but it pierced like an icicle. “I just

came to wash my hands.”

This dismissive attitude completely infuriated Edward.

He spun around, his chest heaving violently. “Don’t play dumb.

You’ve been targeting me ever since you showed up!

Chapter 328

What kind of tricks did you use?!

!”

Roderick tossed the used paper towel precisely into the trash

can, only then turning to face Edward directly.*

His eyes were deep, as if hiding an endless, cold abyss,

impossible to read, yet instinctively terrifying.

“Tricks?”

Roderick raised an eyebrow slightly, his tone laced with a faint,

almost cruel mockery.

“Haven’t you always relied on so–called luck and intuition, Mr.

Carroll?”

He took a step forward. Though they were of similar height, his

powerful, cold aura made Edward feel an oppressive sense of

being looked down upon.

“I just make it a habit to do my research thoroughly and prepare

adequately before I do anything.”

Roderick’s voice lowered slightly, but it became even clearer

and colder, each word landing like a hammer blow on Edward’s

heart.

“For instance, knowing the preferences of every decision-

maker, or thoroughly assessing the potential risks of every

business partner, or for example…”

His gaze was as sharp as a knife, as if it could slice through all

of Edward’s pretenses.

“…making sure the people close to me aren’t subjected to any

unwanted disturbances or harm.”

That last sentence was pointed and bone–chillingly cold.

Edward’s heart clenched, as if stunned by the force of

Roderick’s presence.

But he didn’t understand what Roderick meant. Before he could

sort out his thoughts, Roderick had already leaned in slightly,

speaking word by word in a voice only the two of them could

hear:

“Edward, your good luck ends here.”

His breath caught in his throat. Edward looked as if he’d been

struck by a heavy blow, his face instantly turning pale.

Chapter 328

Roderick hadn’t even admitted to anything, nor had he made a

direct threat.

But his words, “ends here,” terrified Edward more than any open

declaration of war.

Why?

How could this be!

“Roderick!”

Veins bulged on Edward’s forehead as he reached out and

grabbed Roderick by the collar, his breathing ragged.

“What the hell do you mean? You’re implying something, aren’t

you.”

“Lately, Madeleine, you, and… Fiona, all of you have been acting

like different people.”

“Why? What the hell is going on!?”

Roderick narrowed his eyes, seemingly unfazed by Edward’s

furious, crazed expression.

He didn’t speak for a long moment:

Chapter 328

“Have you never suspected that, with your own abilities, you

could never have gotten this far?”
